Should I do avionics or aircraft maintenance if I become a pilot in the future.

Guys I don't know what to choose. I would like to be a pilot in the future but first I want to make some money. Avionics is the electronics in plane, troubleshooting, etc. and maintenance is using tools and replacing parts, etc.

Honestly both are great ways in and you'll understand aircraft way better than most pilots ever will, which is actually a huge edge later. Avionics is probably easier to pivot out of if you ever need to since electronics skills travel, but if you're more of a hands-on person maintenance just feels more satisfying day to day.
The plan B degree thing is solid advice pretty much anywhere, though Quebec specifically has a pretty healthy aviation maintenance scene around YUL so you're not exactly stuck if you go deep on the trade. Still, having something transferable never hurts no matter where you land.

At my airline both regular mechanics and avionics make the same pay and they are great careers. Junior mechanics can make over 100K with some overtime.
