Tractor paint as temporary replacement for vinyl top?

I think this is probably a good sub-reddit to ask this.

I'll start with the TL;DR:

I'm looking for a matte light-color coating to replace the vinyl top on my daily driver. Durability is more important than appearance. Paint will be applied with a roller. Tractor paint came to mind, but I'm curious if there's something better for this application.

Super-long version:

After a few years of cracking and flaking, I finally tore the vinyl top off my daily driver. Minimal rust, original primer is still there.

At some point in the future (maybe in 5-10 years), I'll likely repaint the whole car, at which point I'll replace or properly delete the vinyl top. But for now I'm just trying to prevent rust while making the car look halfway decent from 15+ feet away.

I was thinking for now I'd fix the little rust spots, hit the whole top with a layer of "rust converter" primer for good measure, and then roller it with white tractor paint. End goal is a matte finish (preferably textured, but I'm not really sure how to do that).

This car is not garage-kept, so I mainly just want something durable. Fading isn't a factor since I'm using a light color. Losing its sheen doesn't matter since I want it matte. Basically just want a protective coating that's weatherproof and will protect the car for many years.

As I mentioned, this is my daily driver, so the taping, priming, and painting will all have to happen in a single day out in my yard (hence the roller method).

I'm interested if there's a product that's better for what I'm doing, or if tractor paint is the way to go. Also open to brand recommendations for the paint. I'm also assuming no place does custom paint colors for tractor paint (my car's original top is actually a light yellow/cream color, so that would be better than white if I could get it somewhere).
