At this point it would be virtually impossible. Trump would have to decisively win with Iran, bring peace to Ukraine, and work with Congress to fix immigration (not just deport people). All three of those things, all of them, I think would be necessary pre-conditions for a Republican midterm victory. If even two out of three happened, at best, I think the Republicans would break even, so to speak.
