Will my power supply work with this 12vHPWR cable?

I know from Voltage and wattage standpoint I'm good. Asking because of the whole 12v cable compatibility sitaution
This is the power supply, rock solid but a little older https://www.newegg.com/evga-atx12v-eps12v-850-w-80-plus-gold-certified-power-supply-210-gq-0850-rx/p/N82E16817438114
Bought this cable https://www.amazon.com/CableMod-Pro-ModFlex-E-Series/dp/B0DSHR8K7N
Am I good?

I do not believe so, no.
If I remember correctly, the EVGA GQ line of PSUs are one of the models which you cannot reliably buy cables for, because there are multiple variations with different pinouts for the modular connectors. This means you can't even safely use cables from one "850 GQ" and another seemingly identical "850 GQ" without the possibility of frying the PSU or the component you're connecting the cable to. Which is why it's not a model listed on Cablemod's compatibility list:

Well damn 😰 any other way / ideas? Rather not spend $100 on a new power supply since this ones perfectly good

Hopefully I'm wrong and Cablemod gets back to you with a "yep, it'll work fine!"
But more likely the only "solution" is making your own cables, which would require you have the tools to test the pinout on the PSU, and know which pins on the 12V-2x6 those pins on the PSU should match. And the tools for removing and reinserting the pins into the connectors without damaging them. If by chance the cable you bought is even keyed the same, you could start with that... if you had the tools.
The other option is assuming you still have the PCIe 8 pin cables for that PSU, use an PCIe 8 pin to 12V-2x6 adapter, which if you bought a GPU that requires the 12V-2x6 to power it would have come with it. If you bought a used GPU and the seller did not include the adapter, you'll have to buy one on your own.
Or you can spend about $65 to get a new PSU that'll support the 12V-2x6 natively and work with any GPU that isn't a 5090.

It didn't come with a adapter, well only one did. Dual r9700s, run about 250w each after I down tune the power (which is how I'll be running them)
Just for clarity, are you saying if I just buy an adapter > pair them with original cable which I still have. I'll be good?

Ah yeah, the professional GPUs don’t usually include adapters. But yes, get another adapter, plug two PCIe cables into each, and you’re done.

For a PSU recommendation, the SAMA G750 is an A tier ATX 3.x PSU that should be capable of handling even a 5080, if you aren't overclocking and don't have a high power CPU.

Thanks I did some PSU research already but figured "why can't I just buy an adapter and save money " maybe I'm just screwed 🙃🙃

Looking at screenshot in newegg. Looks like the 12v rail can reliable use up to the entire 850w. Not sure if that means anything

ask cablemode directly.

Good idea, just did a crosspost!
