i recently picked up a 9mm shield x, any idea's for a cleaning kit?
i have one in my amazon shopping cart but i'm not sure if it has everything i need.
currently i am under the impression that the "Hoppe's PCO38 No. 9 Cleaning Kit" will work fine for my needs. but i am looking for more input if anyone can help me save a few bucks.

You rarely ever need to use solvents. Typically only the barrel after a lot of rounds. your main cleaning tool shouldn't be a solvent like hoppes #9, but should be an oil.
Clenzoil is a really good oil for rust protection and general lubing.
My cleaning tools are a silicone mat (to keep my desk clean), clenzoil (I actually use mainly militec-1 but it's expensive), shop towels, cleaning patches, and foam q tips. Specifically foam, not actually cotton qtips. Cotton will unravel and leave strings, foam does not.
Shop towels are used to wipe everything down. Foam q tips are used for trigger areas, getting inside the slide rail cutouts, or oiling the rails. Cleaning patches to clean inside the barrel (most the time I skip the inside).

You don't oil between the trigger bar and connector?

no. oil isnt the least friction substance. trigger bar and connector you want slick/smooth. i put tungsten disulfide on my trigger bar and connector, which is incredibly slick/low friction coefficient. its lower friction than even PTFE, and withstands high heat. i also put this on my striker lug and sear. its a dry powder so it does not make your trigger components messy either. it actually reduced my overall trigger pull by about .5 lbs on a couple striker guns to coat everything in tungsten disulfide.
my method is polish the part so its freshly clean surface, then burnish into tungsten disulfide powder. basically just press it into the part. you can order it from microlubrol for pretty cheap.

Dewey 1 piece brass cleaning rod (comes with slotted path holder), bore tech gun cleaning pick, patches, and Break Free CLP is what I use the majority of the time for cleaning semi-auto pistols. Consequently seems like you would just need the pick although that can be improvised.
