25 years ago in May of 2001, I built my very first PC after months of research and over a year of saving while going to college.

Serious Kudos for maintaining all the receipts and photos, great historical record.

I honestly forgot I had them sitting around for over two decades, thought I shredded them long ago

That is so awesome that you have pictures! I’m 45, and built my first computer before I was in high school in 94. And by the time 2001 came, I was in college as well, and working at a computer store. I had already built at least 100 machines by that time, as that almost all I did at the computer store. Some of this brings back so many memories!

A quart of oil cost $1.03, amazing! Also, was Voodoo 3 considered a budget card at that point? Just curious.

Voodoo 3 was indeed a budget card by then...however I think it was just a temp card before he could get the gf3.

Reminds me of my first build, we had a Microcneter near by for some parts. Mail ordered the rest from an ad in PC Accelerator magazine. First mother board was a FIC AZ11, AMD t bird 800mhz. All the parts arrived by UPS and we had a family vacation starting that day. Wa so pissed I couldn’t stay home and build my PC. Had to wait a week 🤣
