Hi everyone!
Always wanted to get a PC but never actually got one. Now that I have some money and a bit of spare time I would really like to try it out. I've put together something that I'd be happy with and I would appreciate any feedback you have!
Here's the part list (as text because links to pcpartpicker are apparently removed):
- CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-U12A (standard, silver+brown)
- Motherboard - MSI MAG B850M Mortar WiFi (mATX)
- RAM - Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 EXPO (CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30)
- Storage - WD_Black SN850X 2TB M.2 NVMe Gen4
- GPU - ASUS Prime RTX 5070 Ti OC 16GB
- Case - Lian Li A3-mATX (black, wood front)
- PSU - be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W (ATX 3.1, Gold, fully modular)
- Case fans - 4× Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM (2 bottom intake, 1 top exhaust, 1 rear exhaust)
- Monitor - ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCDMG (27" 4K 240Hz QD-OLED)
Country of purchase is the Netherlands, \~3000 budget but it's not a hard cap, need a monitor and keyboard.
My preferences were: small-ish case (I'll be moving soon), no RGB, powerful enough that I can play anything that comes to mind (GTA5, RDR2) and also watch movies and do productivity tasks -- that's why I went for a 4k monitor and not 1440p.
One of my concerns is how well the 5070 ti will be able to handle 4k gaming. I'm sure everything will be playable but perhaps I'll have to adjust some settings.
Note that some prices are off on pcpartpicker, for example the RAM sticks are on sale for 400 eur on one of the websites, which is way more reasonable.
Again, I would appreciate any tips :) Really looking forward to building now.

You’re getting a 240Hz monitor, and like others have said, you will rarely be able to actually get that many frames running a 5070Ti at 4k if you also want high graphics. A 5080 would be much better if you’re trying to chase that many frames. The 5070Ti will be capable enough if you’re ok with <100 frames.
I have a 5070Ti and it’s amazing, but I run a 1440p monitor, not 4k

Thank you for the reply!
I was thinking about mini ITX at first but then decided that for a first build it will be too tricky. I agree that Formd cases look incredible, but they dispatch slowly and probably also ship slowly to Europe, and I want to assemble everything soon, hopefully this week. Lian Li on the other hand I can get within a working day.
As for the monitor, after reading all the comments I'm now also thinking about 1440p monitors. Do you have any that you would recommend? I'd appreciate it!

A 5080 isn't that much better if you're expecting that many frames. It's not going to get you from <100 frames to 240 frames. No card is going to do that, a 5090 included, because no card is twice the performance of a 5070ti. A 5090 is roughly 50% better. A 5080 is 15% more frames on average. That means if you have 100 fps, you're going to get 115.
And if you check actual benchmarks, sometimes it's not even 15%. In expedition 33 it's like 62 fps versus 69 fps at 4k.

Get a cheaper 240mm aio and fan like arctic cooling. check is there is a cheaper 5080 brand gpu

Don’t expect 4k ultra settings. But my 5070ti does high settings around 60 fps native, and can go between 80-100 with upscaling, higher if you like framegen.
Which to me is totally playable and I really enjoy it.

With my 5070ti I run Cyberpunk at 4k/110fps. That’s with 3x framegen, path tracing and all settings maxed. 4x framegen will give me 120fps but the AI image flickering starts to get really noticeable in the background. I haven’t tried something newer like crimson desert since I got my new computer a month ago. I haven’t tried something the same cpu/gpu as OP and so far I’ve had no issues with 4k on ultra settings

Which also means OP probably do not need a 9800X3D unless OP want to keep using the same CPU for a decade or something. Note that 9800X3D can be worse than a Ultra 5 250K Plus in many productivity task

Get a 7800x3d rather than a 9800x3d.
If you want to get into 4k gaming, a 5080 would be a good investment.

5080 is like giga expensive with only 15% performance improvement, tho i personally wouldnt game at 4k at all, id rather have high fps on lower resolutions.

Why

Pretty sure the 5070 Ti will be great for 4K gaming as long as you don't mind DLSS and/or framegen, but that's a given for almost any card.

I have bought a PC today and I chose almost what you are showing. I went full AMD as I will be mostly playing with this rig. Instead of the 5070ti I got the 9070 XT, which is very good for the price. Spend 2500 US dollars.
Bichaelcycle@reddit
Could get a 5080 instead. Also ill leave the case fans up to you.

That cpu is overkill for 4k gaming
But not productivity though
