Team driving

Hey yall, I’m reaching out to help make a more educated decision on what trucking companies to consider.
I’ve never driven over the road full-time.
I have had my class since I was 20 years old.
I drove for the army, which included all classifications on endorsements.
I’m now considering doing team driving over the road full-time and giving up my current career.
I’m not interested in hearing from people to say it’s not possible to maintain the time in the gym, although I’m sure I’ll get a bunch of people that have the excuses while they fell apart once they started driving a truck.
So for those that have any worthwhile contribution, and can give me an idea of what trucking companies have full functioning gyms at their hubs, or how best to fit in actual gym time, into working in a team driving schedule I would much appreciate it.
Again, for those saying it’s not possible, I’m very aware of that life is too difficult for most people, and that excuses are more comfortable.
I currently get up at three in the morning to make sure I make it to the gym before my workday.
But y’all are also free to cry underneath and tell me how it’s impossible.

Team driving and essential gym time don’t really make sense together because the goal of team driving is to keep the truck rolling around the clock. There is not a lot of sitting around unless you’re waiting for a trailer to finish loading or unloading or you’re on a reset (unless you run recaps). Sounds like solo driving might be a better fit for you

Uehb, you’re so much more disciplined than awveryone else. Got it. Thing is, you need that time if you’re running hard. So get a gig w a lot of downtime.

If I understood your comment earlier, you're planning on running team with your life partner. If this is the case, maybe talk to some companies about running "super-single". I'm assuming some still do that. It's basically two people in a truck running more miles than a solo driver would, but not as much as a full team scenario.

Op please send me a PM, I drove teams for 4 years. Definitely can give you some tips in terms of companies to drive for.

Your goal is to not be sitting at the terminal. I personally would rather make money
JoelTHEBarberr@reddit (OP)
No, as everyone has different “ goals”, based on my specific circumstances, it’s a necessity that I am in a physical gym, at least three times a week. As I’m retired army, and on 100% disability, money is not my only goal
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
Well trucking is known for its great work life balance like no other industry. So youre definitely smart for choosing it. But really tho. Youre taking a gym with is the single solution.
JoelTHEBarberr@reddit (OP)
Yeah, nothing you responded with. Has a single benefit to it. And your clown is condescension, is obviously what was expected. You have proven to be, a cookie cutter example, of the mediocrity I would expect, as that’s exactly what I stated in my original question. So yes, you don’t go to the gym, you’re overweight, and trucking is just too hard to do anything else in life, got you. You’re free to move on now and patch yourself on the back knowing, that you couldn’t actually form a sentence properly with structural grammar. I didn’t say it would be easy, as I also stated that above. As I’m looking for input, on how to make it possible.

as a 20 year team driver typically you have no times in the hub. You will get a 34 hour reset whereverthe fuck you run out of time because they’re gonna run you out of hours every week and then you won’t even get a 34 hour reset you’ll get a 24 hour reset or “rolling reset” reset as one of the team drivers will start rolling while the other is finishing their reset so they can come on duty they are not gonna let you and your teammate hang out at the hub more than overnight waiting on a load if you have any hours you might get somewhere and make a drop then crawl over to a truck stop for your 34 hour but they’re gonna have you planned out before you ever hit your reset. The stupidity of it starting out is there gonna pay you less to run you into the ground as a team then they will as a solo driver to sleep in a non-moving vehicle every night.
and you better pack up whatever weights you intend to lift in the truck or get some resistance bands because other than getting out of the cabin when you have some time doing some pushups and jogging around the parking lot as a team you’re probably not gonna get a lot of gym time.
wife and I went owner operator after about seven years as a team and only then did we have the time that we wanted when we wanted it, but even that was limited because we still had a truck stroke to make.
so go sign on as a team make your year or what not and determine whether it’s for you, but you’re gonna give up a lot of things to operate as a team.

Hey man, is it cool if I hit you up directly? You’re the only one that’s provided any beneficial information so far

What are you cycling?
What's your other career?
Exercise is possible. I shoot for an hour of walking per day and also bring dumbells with me for free weight exercises.
JoelTHEBarberr@reddit (OP)
Are you asking what PEDs?
Retired army, full time barber.
That’s definitely a good plan you have, and that is the baseline that I’m planning on the road. But I have to have 3 days in the gym a week minimum. Otherwise, I’ll end up going backwards on a lot of work I’ve put in. I have scoliosis, on top of a lot of other injuries from the military and farming. So if I don’t have my heavy compound lifts, it’s really easy to start having to rely on pain medication again
Revival-Waters@reddit
Yes, what PED's.
I hear you.
I had a cervical fusion when i was young (not my choice) and have found deadl lifts and other compound exercises really help.
Have to stay active or the your body will start falling apart, especially when your sitting for 11+ hours a day.
JoelTHEBarberr@reddit (OP)
Yeah man, then you completely understand what I’m saying. Without a doubt, I’ve dialed it back substantially from what I was doing a few years ago, and I’m not trying to say anymore PR’s. But I still love my heavy days, something about the pain you give yourself on purpose, kind of sidelines the pain you would be in otherwise.
I don’t run anything too crazy anymore. That being said I’m currently running
-anadrol 50mg -test E 400mg -arimidex 1mg bi
I know that likely looks like an odd cycle, but it’s on purpose at the moment.
When I cycle off, I’ll be running.

Why are you interested in team driving and not solo driving?
JoelTHEBarberr@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I got you. Because two incomes, coming into the same house is a lot better than one. So me and my partner were planning on doing it together. I understand that it will be difficult to make the gym, at least in the traditional sense. But how does it work in your turnarounds? How much time do you have at the hubs?
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
Plenty of money to be made while not team driving
