WeBoost Mast

I’ve got a WeBoost Overland on my 4Runner and I’m wondering if anyone knows of a shorter mast available. I hate how tall it sits on my roof rack.

WeBoost performance is marginal at best. You want it long or else there's even less point in running it

Do any cell boosters like this work decently?
elbaldwino@reddit
Honestly in my experience, no. Basically if you have zero cell service the booster won't work.
If you have marginal service the booster will work to an extent, but the interior and exterior antenneas have to be positioned perfectly as does your phone.
If you want true off grid connectivity you need starlink.
Obviously these boosters work on paper in laboratory environments but in my real world experience driving through Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico starlink is the superior connection option.

Which Starlink would you recommend?

Mini. But like anything services related you are paying for the plan (which Elon likes to change prices it seems on a monthly basis). So be comfortable with the prices, and the fact they will go up or change. Also know they prorate by the day of the month it's enabled, and as of now you can cancel and reactive from one month to the next (which are positives)
I use standby which is now grounded, and as of next month doubles to $10/month. Still a deal, but shit is always changing.

Another vote for the mini. Incredible device.

For overlanding, get a Mini.

I have the gen 3 but I've heard good things about the mini.

I found very marginal improvement from this product. In the end, I simply went and got a T-Mobile Home 5G router and used that instead.
It used to be cheaper when I got it, and now it has gone up in price, but it works really well. It is probably the best thing short of getting a Starlink.

If you want to keep with it, you can get the ram mount so you can fold it down when not in use. That's what I do with mine, but honestly since Starlink, the most I use mine for is because I like the phone holder lol (ive got the cradle OTR version).

I always add another carrier for when I overland. T-Mobile is my primary, works the best in the mountain west. I add Visible, the Verizon MVN for summer travel.

Return the booster. Trust me. From someone who already owns one and has only used it twice in 5 years. Your phone has to basically be right up against the output antenna. If you have one bar it will make it two. It will make voice calls work, but data doesn’t really make much difference.
When I needed the antenna it wasn’t really working and I could just as well drove a few miles anyway.
