If the Soviets had given North Vietnam missiles which were then used to attack Washington, DC, nobody would be under any illusions that this would likely need to all-out war, and every voice in the West would be united in denouncing such a reckless and destabilizing provocation.
If China had given the Taliban missiles which were then used to bomb several US cities, this too would be seen as an unimaginably insane act of war-mongering which would force the US President to respond in kind.
But Russia will sit on their hands, because the taboo against attacking a nuclear power only applies to NATO.
We know that Europe wants war so long as they're not attacked, the question that has to be answered now is, what's Europe's appetite for war once European cities start burning.
dodo91@reddit
Its going to increase as people tend to get used to the idea of war when they are under attack
exoriare@reddit
Hahaha right. If that were the case, TCC wouldn't have to send out press gangs to round people up, they'd volunteer. But UFA is almost 90% conscript in combat roles.
What happened in January was Syrskji increased the conscription target from 35k per month to 70k. To enable this, TCC were given the right to search the listed residence of conscripts, and many medical waivers have been withdrawn. So, many people who'd been "safe" are now being picked up. Assault brigades get first choice of all conscripts, so if you're fit and get picked up, it's a death sentence - and everyone sees it as such.
TCC have been stabbed and shot and burned, but there's fear that if they roll in decked out like a heavy infantry platoon, people will feel more justified in fighting them.

Europe obviously doesn’t want war, lol. Your comment is an excellent example of the idiotic mental gymnastics required by Russian shills like Ritter to excuse Russian war crimes.
exoriare@reddit
Of course Europe wants war. If they didn't want war, we'd have an endless stream of European leaders heading to Moscow to talk and figure out a way to solve problems peacefully. There is zero interest in this - Europe is determined that Moscow must be defeated. They see any diplomatic contact as a reward that Russia has not earned.
This is patently insane behaviour. Those who want peace, TALK with their enemies.
I have no interest in excusing Russian war crimes - the hilariously pathetic part is the NATO stans who run double standards - NATO & Friends grant themselves an unlimited license to engage in regime change and destabilisation campaigns, and are somehow surprised when other countries follow their lead. This moral vacancy of the NATO zealot is the kind of insanity which makes total war inevitable.
socks@reddit
Bulllshit. The only reason Europeans are now spending more on NATO is because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the need to support Ukraine. Previously there was not much interest in defense spending. No European states absolutely don't want war.
exoriare@reddit
Europe had a chance to peacefully settle this conflict via the Minsk Agreement - which had been negotiated by Merkel and Hollande, and had been passed as a UN Security Council resolution. Minsk boiled down to federalism for Ukraine - something they should have had since Day 1, and which was the best response to their perennial corruption problem.
But nobody in Europe lifted a single finger to encourage Ukraine to implement Minsk. Why? Merkel and Hollande both admitted they never had any intention of seeing Minsk through - it was nothing but a sham to give them time to build up Ukraine's army (which had barely 6000 men in 2014).
They muttered lies for peace, while working tirelessly for war.
dodo91@reddit
Ukranian army became absolutely massive despite a small population
No amount of russian bombing or war broke the will of ukranians.
exoriare@reddit
Ukraine is already dead. It was just another puppet used by NATO to give Russia a bloody nose. It was a foolish fight in the first place, but this was the price of joining the western clubs.
dodo91@reddit
the size of the army is around 1 million bro - it is normal for them to collect such people.
They havent even lowered the recruitment age below 25. And with the rate their drone technologies develop like this, they will not need to expand their army.
It was not a puppet to give Russia a bloody nose - retarded Putin and the oligarchs thought it was an easy picking and jumped in. Biggest mistake of his career. Will likely have terrible consequences.
exoriare@reddit
Any army in history has always had minimum standards, because men with chronic conditions are more of a hindrance than help. When you see an army discard all standards, it's a sign of a last-ditch effort - like the Nazis' "Volksturm" units of late 1944. They conscript anyone, and, like you, insist that Steiner will soon break through. It's propaganda in place of strategy.
Recruitment age in Ukraine is 18 - it's conscription that starts age 25. (But almost no 18-24 year olds volunteer: Syrskji introduced the new 12 month contract to entice young men to join, but there were few takers - the front is seen as a death trap.)
This "Drone Wall" strategy you speak of was already tried in 2025, but it wasn't found to be a practical solution. This is why Syrskji expanded the Assault Brigade model last fall. This has been far more successful (FPV's are still extensively used at the front, but they cannot provide any momentum or movement on their own).
In 2014, Ukraine's army had an effective strength between 2000 and 6000 men. If Putin had been looking for "easy pickings", he'd have pushed to Kiev then. So why did he stop then? He agreed to a weak Minsk agreement, which didn't annex a single inch of Ukraine.
And why didn't he take Kazakhstan? In 2022, Kazakhstan was hit by a wave of violent unrest due to price increases on energy. The Kazakh army is tiny (smaller than Russia demands of Ukraine), so the govt asked the CSTO to send troops to restore order. The largest contingent was a couple thousand Russian soldiers, who patrolled the capital city.
It's difficult to imagine any better setup for Putin if he was after "easy pickings". It would have been very easy to blow up the govt, blame the rebels, and install a compliant puppet regime. Instead, this insane madman bent on rebuilding the Russian Empire withdrew his troops once order was restored, without firing a single shot.
2022 wasn't about "easy pickings" - Ukraine's army was already 250k strong, which outnumbered any attack force Russia could muster in short order. The invasion was Ukraine's last chance to return to a path of sanity and peaceful coexistence. Instead, Ukraine chose NATO.
This war has already had terrible consequences on both sides I think, but NATO still doesn't get it - this war may end with Russia's destruction, but it won't end with their defeat.

Poor Russia, faced with an "existential threat". Just like Israel. Entitled to invade its neighbors because they might be a threat. /s
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Both Russia and Israel are nuclear powers. It’s not poor them it’s poor people who are in their way.
Unlucky-Associate266@reddit
Does either Russia or Israel look like happy, healthy societies to you? Their brutality has its own blowback.
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Russia does look like a healthy society compared to the western countries. Israel is a western country so par for the course. Ukraine is dysfunctional too.

This subreddit called endless war... a site made to criticize war is bad, inmoral and to never be justified...
Is endorzing apologetic russian war propaganda?
EndlessWar-ModTeam@reddit
No ad hominem attacks, name calling or shouting people down as trolls, bots, or propagandists. Remember you're talking to a person. Your objective should be to change opinions -- not belittle or degrade people.
Razul1066@reddit
Really is just a pure fantasy world on this sub. Jesus

Feel free to go back to your preferred fantasy world.

A world based on confirmed facts and empirical evidence instead of whatever the hell this nonsense is?
Gladly. It's sad to see this sort of delusional nonsense damaging the anti-america movement.

Yeah I doubt you live in a world of confirmed facts.
Razul1066@reddit
Clearly you would doubt it, look at the stupidity your posting.

Of course I doubt world news its a propaganda sub.
Sidepotnotasidepod@reddit
This guy stood beside Kadyrov in Grozni and in tortured Russian language made salutes to Akhmat regiment before them going to Ukraine. Like really?
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Ritter was instrumental in the Cold War disarmament process too.
Sidepotnotasidepod@reddit
Like drinking vodka at Gru meetings?
tvtowers@reddit
Instrumental in engaging minors for immoral purposes, too.
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Yet you exist because of that guy.
tvtowers@reddit
I have no congenital deviants in my family, thank you very much. And I wouldn't have him within 1000 yards of my family, either.
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Your family is alive because of him to we all are. The US and the USSR didn't end the world 30 years ago.
tvtowers@reddit
Scott Ritter is the Jesus of idiots, you may have found salvation through him, but anybody who respires through their nostrils rather than their mouth is not impressed.
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
Dude the topic is what he's saying not him.
tvtowers@reddit
What he's saying, along with everything else he's said regarding putin's vanity war in Ukraine, has been demonstrably incorrect. His opinions tend to be sensationalistic, devoid of logic and based on misinformation. Shame on you for accepting this without examination.
Salazarsims@reddit (OP)
No, it hasn't you just believe that.

What revisionism? He talked about Chechnya on his own podcast and how honored he was to meet Kadyrov. There is video footage of it.
