geneticdeadender@reddit
Who is rubber stamping CDLs to people that can't read English?
Every single sanctuary state. That's who.
smellyjerk@reddit
So you whining boogeymen aside...
What Country doesn't use 1234567890 as numbers?
You'd have to be an absolute moron to think Arabic numerals are English lmao
Cann1balHulk@reddit
Couldn’t be because people simply don’t pay attention.
Couldn’t be that huh.
Man sybau
ANiceDent@reddit
You must’ve missed the last 20 accidents
Cann1balHulk@reddit
Out of the….500,000 that occur per year involving trucks?
Yep, definitely probably missed 20 of em
clindh@reddit
Go back to your country please
smellyjerk@reddit
So you whining aside...

Cann1balHulk@reddit
Uhh…you mean the country of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
Oh you mean where my parents were born? Also Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
Grandparents? That Philadelphia, Pennsylvania?
Great grandparents? Harrisburg, Pennsylvania?
Ancestors? You mean my great great great great grandparents who can be traced to the Susquehannock?
My family has been here for over 400 years.
How about you go back to your country you fuckin dirtball.
darklorddoone@reddit
Worst part driving for amazon ur suppose to be using thier app. Which is truck friendly and tells u, that u shouldnt go down this road because height or weight limit.
smellyjerk@reddit
Relay is terrible in major cities though. It'll send you on side streets in Chicago because it insists its shorter than staying on the expressways. Id bet the Amazon app told him to do this.
homucifer666@reddit
I think it has less to do with lack of English and more to do with the fact that most younger drivers are trained in their pre-CDL years to obey the GPS without question and ignore road signs; and bring that habit with them into the trucking world.
Hell, I see questions on this sub all the time asking "what's the best GPS unit/app for truckers?" The nuance of having to question the GPS and parse a safe route from signage is lost on these people.
saf489@reddit
I’m pretty glad I had a job as a taxi driver before gps started rolling out. Maps and directions were the only options
Mad_Ronin_Grrrr@reddit
I got me CDL back in 2000 and one of if the instructors said that we are not professional drivers, we are professional sign readers. That stuck with me.
unloader86@reddit
I'm okay with both. But I've never crashed a truck. So I lean more towards professional driver here. 13 years last April. I take a lot of pride in what I've accomplished as a million miler without a wreck.
truckeredditor@reddit
My instructor told us to read every sign out loud and got mad at us if we didn't while driving.
JankyMark@reddit (OP)
Mines too
Tonkatte@reddit
These are great points for all drivers.
voicareason@reddit
I enjoy going to edsle in Gary and looking at the sad, confused saps on the other side of the low, low bridge on the residential absolutely no trucks road. They spent 10 extra minutes following their gps to sit til Gary pd comes to help them pivot and get a ticket.
hugothebear@reddit
But in new york, im supposed to know that 12’6” after the GWB is good to go?
saf489@reddit
That one scared the shit out of me when it came up. I was watching every truck ahead of me in traffic just waiting for the sparks. Later I read they allow for a foot of buffer for snow, but I have no idea if that’s true
Rotteneverything@reddit
hope you're being rhetorical, and sarcastic.
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
The GW bridge is literally marked 12’6, but is actually the truck route. This is true. I’ve driven under it 100s of times.
Rotteneverything@reddit
gw bridge is new jersey/new york. gw parkway is in virginia.
do you get lost often?
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
That’s literally not what we’re talking about there good buddy
Rotteneverything@reddit
ny is non sequitar, why even mention it?
Cantthinkovaname@reddit
Because its a good example of how signs cant always be trusted. Have you ever had a conversation before? fuckin moron.
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
Username checks out
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
Did you edit your comment to "bridge" instead of "parkway" or is that guy just retarded?
hugothebear@reddit
Guy is hung up on the picture being virginia. Everyone else seems to understand my comment on the GWB was about driving a semi in general
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
No edits.
You said it, not me lmao
StonedTrucker@reddit
I go under 12'6" bridges all over new york state every week. They do things differently for some reason. Still makes me panic for a second until i remember
Rotteneverything@reddit
fuck yes, first time on 278 had me stressed.
fyi, photo is in virginia.
hugothebear@reddit
I know the photo is in virginia.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that a truck coming from new york also goes in virginia. The inconsistency, in this case NY, is a problem.
1morepl8@reddit
Haven't been to NY eh?
Rotteneverything@reddit
plenty of times. but the pic is in virginia.
bluehorsehead@reddit
I went under an 11'9" one time in queens
december151791@reddit
The FMCSA really needs to tell NYC to get their shit together with clearance signs.
TheMathow@reddit
There is one down is Louisiana that is the same.
There are also dozen of no truck signs with a shipper on them or a dollar general getting truck deliveries. Inconsistency in signs is a real problem.
Wide-Engineering-396@reddit
Who has a CDLS?
LucHighwalker@reddit
I only have one
ItsHowWellYouMowFast@reddit
Independence Ave bridge eats so many trucks and most of the drivers are white boys
saywhat181@reddit
The Facebook page is great lol
Mad_Ronin_Grrrr@reddit
You really have to be blind to miss all the warnings leading up to that bridge.
4t5Gunner@reddit
Parkway... You can't park there in NY?
Kindly_Region@reddit
Sometimes you can cheat a little with the arch bridges by taking both lanes and driving down the middle. But that really only works if you know the area
FileCareless@reddit
Looks like it will fit fine if you ride the middle. I’ve had many loads like this in New England. It was kind of embarrassing but that was the job I got paid to do.
Torta_Eater999@reddit
Amazon driver lol
No_Swimming_5684@reddit
Wait until your first foray into Canada. Nothing as exciting as seeing a bridge marked 4.1 and trying to do mental gymnastics converting meters to feet.
CucumberParty3388@reddit
In case you didn't know, the parkway restrictions and low bridges around NY are rooted in century-old racist policies.
https://www.npr.org/2020/07/05/887386869/how-transportation-racism-shaped-america
Acrobatic-Bid-3559@reddit
Wow, purposely making bridges too low for public buses just in case black and brown people might be using them is fucked
Rotteneverything@reddit
photo is in virginia.
Spankpocalypse_Now@reddit
This will get downvotes to shit on this sub
clindh@reddit
Non-domiciled CDLs should not exist. The fuck are we doing, America?
Revival-Waters@reddit
Chear labor to drive down the price of loads and driver pay.
Corporations and billionaires love them.
Randomfactoid42@reddit
Well somebody just made 10,000 new friends today!
Revival-Waters@reddit
Immigrant who cant read English decided to send it.
That's why I support road sign stop-n-checks. Can't read english. Pull the CDL and fine the company for hiring them.
Patalos@reddit
So like when this does happen, wtf does the driver do at this point?
Edge2110@reddit
Honestly, call the police
FaceWithAName@reddit
I love how people think someone just can't read, when in reality they are so out of their mind they are not reading it to begin with.
Prestigious_Ad280@reddit
Lots of clearance...... send it!
bluehorsehead@reddit
Once you drive in and around nyc you start to realize the signs are wrong, there's no other route, and you fit anyway.
Rotteneverything@reddit
virginia
Lucius_Furius@reddit
To be fair, in Europe it’s a pictogram and people still fuck up.
Dangerous_Essay1763@reddit
Numbers are not inglish.
TemporaryOk9310@reddit
Looks like hed fit honestly
1Stack_Mack@reddit
In that drivers defense, there are different clearance markings for each side of the road. If you add them up, you get 25'1". It's a mistake any one of us could make.
Ayasdad@reddit
Those clearance signs are for the low sides. Just aim for the highest part and send it.
Exciting-Car-3516@reddit
The local government
Rotteneverything@reddit
should make it if he can scoot over to the right. but, yeah, what an idiot.
