Text alerts just went out to customers with upcoming reservations, and the komododallas IG and website have been deleted. The restaurant was 22,500 square feet, two stories tall, and lasted 3 years and 12 days.
A text alert just went out to me about my friend fully freaking the fuck out about her now-cancelled 40th birthday party this weekend. Sure, shouldn't be a problem to line up a 30-top table on three days notice. 🫪
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. FUCK Trump but restaurants fail under any administration. They’ve got a 3.6/5 rating on Yelp while being pricey. Rarely a winning combination.
For real, I have no doubt we'll be trying to clean up the economic and political fallout from this administration for decades to come. But an expensive restaurant serving mediocre food trying recast Deep Ellum into a classy neighborhood felt doomed from the start, same for similar places ringing the area. Dallas has some of the most bizarre gentrification plays.
You’re gonna get better Peking duck at an actual Chinese spot, not some overpriced Miami garbage spot for clout chasers. Imagine paying that much for food that couldn’t even make the Michelin Guide’s lowest tier of recognition.
The talk around is that they were months behind on rent, same thing with La Neta that closed down earlier across from it. Although something else already opened up in the La Neta spot.
That makes the most sense. I peeked in the windows around 3pm today and was surprised there was no sign or landlord notice on the door, but that doesn't prove anything. Paparazzi Chophouse was getting a delivery of 6 cases of Wycliff Brut.

Have you considered catering? Might be able to save it.

No way!!! I was there a few weeks ago!! I was at San Marzano a few weeks ago as well…tried to book again and it’s permanently closed!
YaGetSkeeted0n@reddit
San Marzano cuts deep... I loved that place. Great quality and good portions for the price, usually joints like that skimp on quantity... damn shame.

It's you! Where are you going this weekend? (pulls out notepad)
Boring_Funny_6604@reddit
😂😂😂 true story I did go to Niwa Japanese BBQ with a friend…it closed a few weeks after that 😂😂😂

Are you the Grim Reaper of the Dallas food scene?
Pony2013@reddit
I had always wanted to try the Peking duck there.
On the topic of Peking duck, any good places nearby?
too-fun-sidekick@reddit
Literally anywhere other than that garbage place.
Try Maison chinoise, night rooster or royal china

There's a newish one in Plano called Duck & Dumpling that has gotten some high praise on Asian grub. Half duck $32, whole $60 (it was $105 at Komodo)
XIPWNFORFUN2@reddit
Thanks for the recommendation
Ive been trying to find a place to try duck at a decent price for so long.

It is really good. Even my kids ate the duck.

Dallas food scene is so incredibly tough it seems. Places are either having record numbers or closing, doesn't seem to be much in between.
