This type of sandwich is absolutely my jam
TBellOHAZ@reddit
Why not toast?

I’ve slept 2 hours out of the last 30 and I only had enough energy to slice some cheese and stick it in the air fryer to melt it. Will do more experimenting to see if it can toast better without burning the cheese.

Ever hear of a tuna melt? You slap some tuna/mayo mix on some bread and toast in the oven with some cheese on top and salt and pepper. Wonder if it would work with a spread of jam and cheese on top, call it a jam melt. I did some googling apparently it's a thing, just toast the bread lightly then spread the jam and top with cheese then bake at 375 for 5-8 minutes for jam and cheese melts!

You’ll never guess what I originally bought the loaf of bread I used for this for

Idea to try, was meant to be a general comment forgot I'm replying in another comment thread.

Godspeed, insomniac. Throw the bread in a few minutes before adding the cheese.
CabbijSammij@reddit
I do that but with the thick craft singles. The ones without the plastic on them that is.
ilove_whitebois@reddit
Not shitty. That looks good
PissingOnHospitality@reddit
Honestly I bet this is tasty as hell.

During my stint at a grocery store almost a decade ago, one of my coworkers in the cheese shop/dept used to feed me semi-often, food as well as “pairing knowledge”(I’m occasionally an uncultured swine of sorts😅) maaan..the first time she had me try goat (or was it sheep’s milk..?🤔)cheese with fig jam..😩🤤

Fruit preserves and cheese famously pair very well tho....
norunningwater@reddit
Don't get so bent out of shape over a generalization joke.

Well, I got this from my Dutch grandpa. I eat hagelslag too
AtPrick@reddit
"Melted" is it though?
Strict_File_3839@reddit
Why
Artistic-Use-2481@reddit
To op this is probably more interesting to their pallete then just a jam or pb&j sandwich etc.
Artistic-Use-2481@reddit
Fruit and cheese is a classic pairing. Wether it be berries, grapes, or a variety of melon fruits. Different cheeses can pair better with certain fruits too so it's nice to have a variety. Gouda and berries is a good classic combo as most red jams are made with berries. It adds a creamy savory flavor that mixes with and even balances out the tart sweet flavor of the berries/jam.

If this was on sliced crostini people would love it. So it’s only really shitty for being on the wrong shaped bread. Bread, cheese, fruit. Classic combination
Griffithead@reddit
It's on soggy sandwich bread though.
Type of bread matters.

yum but toasted

It looks ugly, but sounds delicious.

I wouldn’t put as much jam on but I think I’d use plum or apricot conserve.
