The only cassette I kept from my youth - What was yours?

The rest I sold on eBay. I never had much but kept this one because it was rare import. I am sure you can tell what I liked to listen to back then.

I have a Paul's Boutique cassette somewhere.

Licensed to Ill here. I brought it to boot camp in 96 and I have a picture of my personal drawer - otherwise I wouldn’t have remembered this tidbit.

I have an entire milk crate full of cassettes in my basement. My son had a musical discovery period with them when he was in middle school, but they eventually returned to the basement.

Would have kept them all, boomer mother threw them all out years ago.

Here's one of mine - kept more for sentimental reasons (was my late mothers)

Deboning Method "Cold" demo. Released in 1993. I can't imagine there's many left out in the wild. The band never became anything but Derek Roddy (the drummer) has gone on to be widely considered as one of the best metal drummers of all time.

I have a still sealed "Moving Pictures" (Rush) from Sam Goody will the price tag showing......$6.99. I lives with my signed Neil Peart snare head.

I worked at a Sam Goody's in high school. I popped so many cassettes out of those plastic anti-theft devices (that covered up the track listing on the back, dammit!), that I'm pretty sure I still have the muscle memory to pop one out today, even with my arthritis.

The Ramones' "Mondo Bizarro," because it's autographed by all four band members. Iwant that thing buried with me when I die.

I have a couple thousand cassettes still. Have a Japanese release of Queen's Greatest Hits and a Korean release of the James Gang. Some French tapes like Edith P. and Telephone.

Wow, I remember being super into metal in HS, and wanted to listen to more than what my local Sam Goody's had. So I found out about Venom, never heard them, but wanted to check them out. So I ordered some random album of theirs from Sam Goody's catalog. I don't think they made me pay, but I checked back in every 30 days for my entire HS career, and it never showed up. Some of the clerks started telling me, "This probably isn't gonna happen man."
But I didn't pay anything, I was coming in anyway, what do I have to lose? I graduated in 94 and never got it. Was finally able to listen to them when streaming started to happen. By then I wasn't super into metal so it didn't hit very right. They're good but I have moved on now.

I haven't had a single retail cassette in my possession for decades. I thought tapes were problematic back in the day; sketchy quality, easily-damaged, etc, so pretty much retired them and got it all on CD in the early '90's.
Hot_Rock@reddit
I was so happy about throwing out my cassettes when I had CDs to replace them. I always hated them. Mine were constantly messing up. Now they’re actually worth money again. Go figure.

"Eagle".
Not "The Eagles", but rather the first video game I ever programmed- in BASIC, on a TS-1000 mini computer.

The only retail cassette I still possess is Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath. I still have around a dozen mix tapes from the '80s, but the rest of my cassettes are gone forever.
CynfullyDelicious@reddit
All that’s left out of around 500.

I still have both Beastie Boys License to I’ll and LL Cool J’s Radio on cassette. I also have Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, but I brag a lot less about that one.
ChrystineDreams@reddit
I don't have any cassettes left, I played them all to death.

That's a fuckin good one dude.
