If you think that's dangerous, try leaving a piece of garbage at one of the many train platforms where they still don't have public trashcans due to aum shinrikyo leaving saran gas there in 1995
You know something is 100% true without doubt when you have to legislate it into being a mandatory teaching subject and making denial of it a serious crime.
If they mandated "keeping rocks under your bed" to be the rule of law and not keeping rocks under your bed got you jail time, would you think it is true?
No, the government doesn't have the right to forcefully tell people what to believe. Truth NEVER prospers in censorship. Ever. Period.
If what they believe is the actual truth, there is no reason to legislate it further than an open discussion, where that said truth would come to light regardless.
And you know what is worse? It doesnt matter if it is truth or not. Majority of modern nazis use reich symbols or deny holocaust just because it is outlawed (therefore cool).
100%. You're gonna have that when you literally criminalize opinions.
If a person has a reg/tarded opinion, let him speak, if a person has a correct opinion, let him speak. It's amazing how so many governments and universities missed this essential part of a healthy debate.
A vital part of the scientific process is the criticism of the consensus theory to find its faults. Without this questioning, a theory cannot be well-supported since it isn't certain to hold up to scrutiny. A theory that cannot be questioned is fundamentally not scientifically grounded. Except this particular topic that we already know is true though, you don't need to question that.
Funny how europeans want to protect freedom of speech and democracy by abolishing freedom of speech and democracy.
It's like those things are ephemeral "feel good" concepts and they don't actually hold them as core values. Which makes sense historically. The reason the US actually has them is because that's not something you could get in Europe
It's more like making denying that there is a monster under the bed illegal. Imagine going to jail for saying there is no big hungry monster that will eat you if you look under the bed.
It's funny that "Flat Earthers should go to jail" would be perceived as an extreme authoritarian overreach violating freedom of speech. There's some tiktok thot that went viral for having a theory that the Roman Empire never existed and was totally made up, legal enforcement of the historical truth was completely irrelevant there. Young Earth creationists can say the Earth is 6000 years old and Satan put dinosaur fossils in the ground to trick us, Muslims can say that Mohammed (Zutts Be Upon Him) split the moon in half. Humanities pseuds can say that objective truth isn't real and 2+2=4 is rooted in colonialism and white supremacy. All of these things can be said due to freedom of speech, regardless of how thoroughly disproven they are scientifically.
There are only two definitely true facts that you are NOT allowed to question the experts on:
The Holocaust happened and at least 6 million Jews were killed deliberately with Zyklon B gas chambers
All the human races are mentally equal and all disparities in IQ, crime rates, or other metrics have zero genetic component and are caused solely by socioeconomic factors
Funny how most of these folks come from a privileged background where their parents just let them do whatever they want.
I’m an edgy 14 year old girl… nah gothic is so 1997… I’m Bi muhtafucka!
Oh that’s not enough? Get my compression bra and a pair of cargo shorts. I’m trans bay-beeeee!
I think the camps were true... People did die... But they just greatly exaggerated the 6 million number and Jews really just.. maximized their victimhood off it.

That's what I envision when I think "truthful".

CPriceRun86@reddit
For me it's the censorship ultimately.

In academics people generally agree with Popper's take of not all opinions being equal.
