German yoghurt (Quark) with added chia seeds. It doesn't look good, it doesn't even taste good. Just the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to hit my macros

“Hit my macros” is a fun way to say “satisfy my eating disorder”.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
I don't think you know what an eating disorder looks like
automator3000@reddit
It looks like obsessively counting nutrients in a way that is unnecessary and often harmful. Remember: not every ED involves self starvation.
HummingbirdMeep@reddit
You're exhausting
FIsMA42@reddit
How is it any bit harmful to casually count macros for best health?
automator3000@reddit
OP is not casually counting. Casually counting would be “here’s something I like - it happens to be pretty high in protein!!”
Instead it’s “here’s the gross thing I eat to meet an arbitrary and unhealthy amount of protein!”
Helpful-Reputation-5@reddit
Why do you think it's arbitrary? Why do you think its unhealthy? You are presuming you know more about OP's dietary needs than OP themselves.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
I'm regulary lifting weights with progressive overload and therefore I eat higher amounts of protein, provided by this pretty cheap, readily available food. Jesus, this sub is exactly as stupid as people claimed it was.
FIsMA42@reddit
Okay let me not argue that route and let's switch gears.
This post doesn't show rigidity, anxiety, or loss of control around food. It shows someone eating a cheap, practical protein source and being honest that it's not delicious. That's not a disorder.
Tracking macros becomes disordered when the rules take over, when missing targets causes distress, when food rules expand, when eating socially feels threatening. None of that is visible here. Calling it an ED is exaggeration
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Thank you! Jesus, I didn't know this sub was this rancid, but guess I was wrong

My dad has diabetes. He tracks his sugar intake to ensure his blood sugar is stable. Should he stop doing that?
My mom has hypertension. She tracks her sodium intake to ensure her blood pressure is under control. Should she stop doing that?
I am likely to have inherited these traits from my parents, so I look at nutrition labels to make sure I'm not consuming too much sugar or too much sodium. Do I have an eating disorder?
automator3000@reddit
Did you miss the word “unnecessary”?
Because tracking sugar is absolutely necessary for diabetics.
But tracking protein when you’re not an elite athlete is unnecessary and so doing so in a way that you’re restricting your diet (eg forcing yourself to eat quark with chia) is disordered.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Ok, so I'm not an elite athlete therefore I shouldn't pay any attention to my protein. Got it.
ei283@reddit
Gee, it's almost like OP is some sort of athlete or something.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
I think it's more harmful to just assume something about a person you know nothing else about. You don't even know how the rest of my nutrition looks like. Besides I've been hitting the gym for the last 2,5 years and reaching around 140 - 150 g of protein per day is something I value alot. By that measurement every person who's trying to hit their protein goal has a eating disorder.
blkfish92@reddit
You just described an eating disorder I’m pretty sure. Just not as bad and obvious as like a person suffering anorexia.
blkfish92@reddit
Your pops has a medical condition which to manage well, requires moderating sugar intake. Did you feel attacked or something? No one is saying your dad has an eating disorder, big dog.

Do you realize how genuinely stupid you sound? Tracking nutrient amounts isn't an eating disorder. It's only a disorder to do so excessively to the point of impairment. Read a book.

My dad has diabetes. He has to track his sugar intake to ensure his blood sugar is stable. In addition to the diabetes, would you say he has a psychological eating disorder?

ei283@reddit
Fellas is it an eating disorder to be aware of one's food?
Theabsoluteworst1289@reddit
I have to lean towards agreeing with this. I’m so sick of that phrase and the weird ass food that goes along with it. That being said, this bowl of crap totally belongs here lol.
blkfish92@reddit
This macros shit everyone is on about blows my mind. Just eat better and less of it if you need to lose weight. The chat GPT macros dieting fad severely irks me. Stop outsourcing your thinking to this shit.
Helpful-Reputation-5@reddit
What are you on about? Not everything you dislike is ChatGPT, OP is eating nutrients suited to their needs as an athlete.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
*adds protein and fibre to my diet
NO, JUST EAT BETTER
blkfish92@reddit
You’re good bro? Do you man, just expression that I think the macro nonsense is bullshit and a shiny badge of a low level eating disorder.
Skrung@reddit
You know that there's more to nutrition than just losing/gaining weight? Sufficient protein intake is needed for muscle building when someone goes to the gym. Tracking your macros has nothing to do with eating disorder btw
blkfish92@reddit
Yes and I’m a healthy lad due to diet, not weird counting macros lmao. The fuck is a macro anyway? Just eating right and moving around a bit. Diet fad ass bruhs.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Precisely
Hisagii@reddit
Fellow Quarkmaxer here. It's the hidden gym bro protein source for now. I'm not even from the part of Europe where quark is from and I've been using it for ages. Just bought 10 tubs of it today.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Hell yeah! That's the spirit
Ornery-Practice9772@reddit
tf is a macros?
if it doesnt taste good, dont eat it
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Macronutrients
Carbs, protein, fats
Ornery-Practice9772@reddit
so thats almost all foods to some degree- why eat this if it tastes bad?
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Because I go to the gym and need more protein
Ornery-Practice9772@reddit
nope.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Yes :)

Bruder warum ist das so flüssig?

Bra. Why did you massacre my boy like this. If you want it more drinkable, add milk, you absolute walnut.

Its not yoghurt
Quark is a fresh dairy product that originated in Central and Eastern Europe and is extremely common in Germany, Austria, and surrounding countries, but relatively unknown in the English-speaking world.
What it is physically
It's made by warming soured milk and then straining it, which separates the curds from the whey. The result is a soft, white, unaged fresh cheese. Its texture sits somewhere between thick yogurt and cream cheese — smooth, creamy, and slightly dense, but not as firm or fatty as cream cheese. It has a mild, clean, slightly tangy flavor.
How it differs from similar products
Fat varieties
Like yogurt, quark comes in different fat levels — from virtually fat-free (Magerquark) up to full-fat versions. Fat level significantly affects texture and richness.
How it's used
It's extremely versatile: - Sweet: eaten with fruit, honey, or jam for breakfast; used in cheesecakes (German Käsekuchen uses quark rather than cream cheese, giving a lighter result); mixed into desserts and pastries. - Savory: mixed with herbs and garlic as a dip or spread (similar to a lighter tzatziki); used as a topping on baked potatoes; stirred into sauces. - Baking: it adds moisture and a slight tang to doughs and batters. - Fitness/health: Magerquark in particular is popular in fitness circles because it's very high in protein and low in fat, similar to Greek yogurt in that respect.

Fine-Upstairs-6284@reddit
Quark is like Polish twaróg right? It’s good stuff and high protein. It’s what Poles use to make cheesecake
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
I guess so. Quark is the most similar to Skyr from Iceland
Deleted_dwarf@reddit
I miss quark. It’s so tasty + good for cheesecake as you already wrote haha
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Yes, but use the full fat quark for cheesecake! The quark in my post specifically is called Magerquark and is very lean
DapperInvestor@reddit
I like cheesecake! Is it with… quark?
Schemen123@reddit
Properly the same
AtPrick@reddit
It looks like spit.

This is just min/max gut bio lol

You have an eating disorder.
LLuk333@reddit
It’s not that deep, it can’t be that deep.
32bit_waifu@reddit
most honest food description ever written and somehow that makes it worse
ezirb7@reddit
Something about calling quark "German yoghurt" just does not sit well with me.
Also, a little fruit/honey/syrup/seasonings are easy enough, and you don't need to throw in so much that it wrecks the macros.
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
I get what you mean. Quark probably is closer to a cream cheese.
Also I used to do something like this with protein powder. Oats + Banana + Sweetener + Milk and Protein Powder. Tastes pretty good. I gonna do that again!
longsonicc@reddit
I do something similar. add some liquid sweetener, makes it much more palatable
GeoCangrejo@reddit (OP)
Oh yeah, makes it easier to drink for sure
Salt_Finger_6863@reddit
I thought that was ranch.
