Sukhoi T-12 Shturmovik-90, a two-seat, twin-engine attack aircraft with a slight forward-swept wing and an Internal weapon bay.

Lots of issues with center of gravity before and after delivering its ordinance. For example, the front landing gear may be to far forward or/ aft and rotation on takeoff would be very intresting.

Whenever I feel like I’ve built the stupidest planes possible in KSP, some engineer decades ago has already been all “yo hold my beer”
UmeaTurbo@reddit
I like that they designed it with folding wings so they can put it on the aircraft carriers that they don't have.
Key-Project-4600@reddit
They had Kuznetsov and Ylyanovsk wasn't yet cancelled.
UmeaTurbo@reddit
But it never had any successful cruises. I'm surprised the designed a plane for something they never got to work, is all.
Key-Project-4600@reddit
Wdym? Older vtol carriers had successful cruises. Kuznetsov was a couple of years old at the time, and they were working up the airgroup.Ulyanovsk was under construction, next catobar carrier was under development. How tf are you going to have successful cruises without designing carriers and aircraft for them?
Kuznetsov is such a huge piece of shit largely because of 15-20 years of neglect. Back in mid to late 80's it was part of a developing carrier program.

But… why?
start3ch@reddit
Is the render correct? That looks like two engines oriented vertically, but the drawing shows them oriented horizontally

I wonder why the 12-14 has different nose cone paint despite being the same shape on each side
therealSamtheCat@reddit
12-14?

Looks like the left nose houses a ground attack laser range-finder and TV sensor similar to the MiG-27, while the right nose will have a tracking/targeting radar.

First image: what in the space age, ace combat sillyness is this. Second image: ah, twin flogger

If Frogfoot is so great, why is there no Frogfoot 2?
Frogfoot 2:

Very interesting design, definitely not conventional xD
Not exactly "screaming" Sukhoi looks wise except the wings, surprisingly. Usually you immediately know it's a Sukhoi.
Rooilia@reddit
It is literally two Su 25 fuselages with new wings and tailplane. Man, i don't know how not to humiliate you. But will stop here anyways.
ChanceConstant6099@reddit
I don't get the same effect, it looks EXTREMELY Sukhoi to me due to being a Berkut and 2 Frogfoots welded together.
CombatPilot2@reddit
Yeah I guess that does make it look a little more Sukhoi-ish
wintrmt3@reddit
The pointy nose and cockpit looks pretty Sukhoi.
HarryTheHatGuy@reddit
Go home, Sukhoi, you're drunk

great read on a highly obscure project

Conclusion, translated obviously.
That was a good read. Thank you for it.

With a usual singular tandem cockpit.... This could've been Strike Gunner on the SNES

They got unhealthy obsesd with the F-82 at Sukhoi i believe
adrewflowers@reddit
It’s like two planes in one.
Oh wait… it is actually like that.
JeantheDragon@reddit
I'm surprised nobody else is talking about the "trombone" engine design of this thing.
HughJorgens@reddit
The Russians will try anything, this is interesting.
HughJorgens@reddit
I love it, but I don't see why it makes sense. What is the other cockpit for, all the high-tech electronics that would never go into a Soviet plane?
Squrton_Cummings@reddit
What if Twin Mustang, but Frogfoot instead?

Looks like Blohm & Voss got captured at the end of WWII and shipped off to Moscow
mvpilot172@reddit
It’s too symmetrical though.

Blohm & voss made LOTS of other weird shit check it out sometime

I like it.
Imagine though instead of the stragnge dual engine arrangenent we go the other way, with an option to greatly increase bypass.
An additional inlet opens, the lower system is a ducted fan and is geared off the LP spool of the upper engine.
This also could directional vanes like a harrier, or be designed so that the ducted fan is vertical like JSF lift engine, in which case the inlet arrangement is laterally to the front sides of the engine.
Now we have twin engined harrier or JSF with much larger internal bay.
UrethralExplorer@reddit
Yeah, I like this idea, I'm not an airplanologist but I don't think you could run four big jet engines off of that tiny intake, especially on the upper surface of the fuselage.
Smooth_Imagination@reddit
Yeah its a little strange, at high speeds is when I think that comes into operation, so there is relatively a lot of air available. Its kind of like an afterburner.
