I was getting like that, gamed for 5+ hours a day after work. 10+ hours a day on the weekends. Started to get burnt out. Found myself just staring at a screen.
Then I got married and had kids. Also picked up a non-gaming hobby. Now when I do have time to game, it’s good shit.
This also effected the type of games I like. I used to love putting hours into big exploratory RPG's, especially when I was high all the time etc.
Now I'm coming at gaming in a snatch what time I can kind of way they seem daunting, but I just got a port of a few old PS1 platformers and its genuine simple fun I can enjoy for an hour
Or just don't change anything and complain that everything sucks and watch as everyone in your life moves on cause you're a miserable cunt that is a black hole for happiness.
I'm speaking from experience here lol. Best thing I ever did for myself was something else.
My friends keep trying to convince me to play games. They love to talk about how the skill tree is expanded, or how some new mechanics are better, or how the graphics are next level.
I dont even know how to reply anymore because I read it and my brain just says, who gives a fuck, this is meaningless. Who cares.
They'll be like ive got this new strategy which we'll dominate with and my brain is all, "you're gonna get a bigger number, but it wont make you happy"
It feels weird to realize that you really just can't play a game for more than an hour a day anymore. I used to play The Witcher 3 for like half a day every day, and now I go in, do some side quests for 30 minutes, and exit without really doing much progress.
Could just be that your taste in games changed. I was in the same boat as you, but then I tried some other games in different genres than I typically play, and it felt like rediscovering gaming again.
I discovered beauty of working out couple of years ago, and today most new games just bore me. I often think "Why I play this, if I can progress my new calisthenic move?" and this win.
And lots of new games are just bland and mediocre. I played RE9 and it was just "tuesday". But to this day I remember Disco Elysium and how it absolutely destroyed me, and to this day there was no game even close to it.
The "OP doesn't tolerate 1 hour of gaming" is much deeper topic than most people thing.

Cry me a fucking river. I can't play more than an hour due to my 12 hour shifts ffs

The trick is to have other things to do.

crazy how you have to moderate fun like drugs, we’re all little addicts

Drugs are fun

They cannot hurt you

Heroin is weak shit compared to being 7 years old playing Crash Bandicoot.

I guess ill get married and have kids then. Kinda puts a kink in my current plans of "nothing" though.

When I work daily then gaming is fun. When I have 4 or more free days, then it's not anymore
Substantial_Bet_1007@reddit
i started to procastinate gaming 😞
Staylower@reddit
took me a bit to figure out turns out that's depression
TimberAndStrings@reddit
The thought of gaming is just so much better than gaming itself.
Substantial_Bet_1007@reddit
not just gaming but gamingrelated stuff too im trying to optimize my piracy setup
TheMorbidHobo@reddit
I can tolerate it, but it's not very fun anymore.

If you're burning out on a hobby that's supposed to be only for entertainment, then that's a great sign you need to diversify your free time.
Do literally anything else for a bit and then circle back....it's not that complicated.
Bharny@reddit
Nah,
games, movies and books just get boring now for me.
UnNecessary_XP@reddit
Try a creative hobby? Drawing, 3d modeling, wood working (if you have space and money)
distortionisgod@reddit
That sounds like depression then.
Get on meds or improve other areas of your life to manage symptoms (exercise, socialization, etc).

I think i might actually be a boomer now...
Broccoli_Sam@reddit
I think your mindset is much healthier. Videogames are a great way to waste huge amounts of time without adding any value to your life.
AsbestosDude@reddit
I spent years playing games, i think ive got my fill

Wasn't he caught jerking off on stream that one time?
GDMolin@reddit
Honestly that’s probably the most moral thing he ever done…

He had a 10 year anniversary stream a few weeks ago to celebrate it… he’s quite the rabbit hole.

How to fix this sht man. Games is literally on my screen but the energy to play games is not there anymore fuck
Pumpkin_Sushi@reddit
Its bad when you can't sit down and read for an hour.
You know things are totally fucked when even the dopamine stimulation machine can't maintain your interest.

I get it, anon. I've burned out too.
