I know an LS is not absurdly heavy but it would add a bit to an S2k’s ~2800lb while a C6 is ~3150 (iirc from Vin_Tra’s recent videos). The weight difference would end up being pretty minimal once you include a beefier gearbox and potentially rear diff and axles. I’m guessing you’d likely end up around 3000lb.
(That’s not to say it wouldn’t be a great time in such a small car though.)
Depends on the C6. My Grand Sport is ~3300lbs. You're not adding 500lbs to a S2k in the swap. If it's even 200lbs different it's huge. Also considering it only fits 245/255's on the stock rear body. Meanwhile with proper clutch application I can turn 315's into a smoke machine. I can only imagine the chaos 245's, the same power, likely more in that swap. My car's stock lol. Then being 3000-3100lbs. I just double back to thinking chaos. In a good way though.
2k can run a lot wider than 245 on stock rear fenders, its just finding the wheels with the right offsets. something likes 18x10. with a simple roll you can do something 11+65 and fit some large tires. maybe not 315s, but the stock ap1s came with 225s in the back with 16" wheels.
your point certainly stands though. but anyone with common sense is rolling fenders with wider wheels on s2000.
my ap1 with a half tank, factory hardtop and extra weight from stereo and suspension bits weights 2850 with me in it.
It’s also still as front mid engined as it was before because a V8’s still only cylinders deep. It’s just slightly a less centralised mass left to right now, and a higher Engine CoG…. A dry sump setup could soon drop that CoG depending on driveline angles though.
An over square flat plane crank converted (for a more 4 cylinder/ferrari rasp) dry sump LS7 reving to 9k in an S2000 would be epic.
LS weighs in between 415 and around 470lb, while the F22C is around 325, so ~125lb heavier, which is not bad. Figure another ~125lb of supporting equipment and assuming it's not a stripped out race car, let's call it 260lb (not saying this is exactly right).
S2000: 2800lb 240bhp 162lb-ft
C6 Z51: 3275lb 430bhp 424lb-ft
LS2000: 3050lb 430bhp 424lb-ft
Your math checks out to me!
You could probably get it down to 2900lb but likely not comfortably for a street car.
You could definitely get that LS3 north of 500bhp though, at which point you have doubled the stock power to weight ratio (and likely tripled the torque to weight ratio!) even with the extra weight. While I think the F2xC engines are the soul of the car, an LS swap is a really tempting fix for a blown engine.
That’s cool. My buddy had a 240 when we were in high school. Such a fun car. How long did that take you to do? What did you put in for a rear end and trans?
It doesn’t have to a be two junkyard parts cars strewn about your mother’s trailer lot to be a project.
Also, some projects have this stage known as “done” where you just get to enjoy them. It’s rare and takes lots of work and money. It doesn’t happen often.

Yes they’re easy and cheap but that also makes them kinda boring as they’re everywhere.

Being a few hundred pounds lighter than a C6 Corvette with a lot less tire... Yeah. It would be silly. An absolute riot I'm sure.

Rear end is the stick 240z diff with a custom driveshaft.
I didn't build it, my friend did! In ended up with it but I believe he got it up and running in under a year (family man so this wasn't his priority).

All of you keep seeing how small of a space you can fit an LS into. At this rate, just slap a saddle on a 5.3 and ride it into the sunset

Any time you see red on the dash, it’s well over 7,000 RPM
