cacloud (canadianwebhosting) has been down for hours - any news?

Down then up long enough for me to file a ticket, then down again.
They had their DNS nuked a week or two ago, we were down three hours on that wone (though I could still SSH into our VM there).

definitely is a DDOS attack , the bad part is that they aren't doing anything to keep their customers aware.

Received an email from them. Posting it here for the benefit of others.
We would like to sincerely apologize for the lack of communication during this ongoing incident.
Unfortunately, the large-scale DDoS attack has also impacted portions of our internal systems and portals, which has limited our ability to provide timely updates through our website and normal communication channels. Despite these challenges, we are making every effort to keep customers informed as frequently as possible.
Our infrastructure, network, and technical teams continue to work around the clock alongside our upstream providers to mitigate the attack, stabilize services, and restore full reliability as quickly as possible. The attack remains ongoing, and mitigation efforts are continuously being adjusted as the situation evolves.
While some customers may continue to experience intermittent connectivity issues or temporary disruptions, please be assured that our teams are fully engaged and working nonstop toward a resolution.
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support throughout this situation. We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
Sincerely,
The CACloud Team

Off the record, though, sending a mass email to all affected customers should not be a complicated task. It is something that could realistically be prepared very quickly, even delegated to claude cowork, and it would make a significant difference for customers who are currently left without clear information.
At the moment, I can log in to my VPS via SSH and I can see the instability myself. At work, we were only able to use webmail sporadically today because IMAP connections were unreliable.
I do understand the technical challenges involved, especially given my own IT background from earlier in my career. However, our workplace relies heavily on email for daily operations, and being left in the dark without knowing what is happening is very frustrating.
A clear communication to customers explaining the issue, the current status, and any expected resolution timeline would be greatly appreciated.

Ditto and thank you and Toronto Tofu for letting the pedestrians know. I have a black eye in my customers eye now, I was banking for the last 14 years on Canadian CACloud redundancy and resiliance, guess that was a myth or a dream, either way, gone now.
Thanks again for the info.
P.S. My e-mail is hosted at CACloud, I am totally in the dark even if they could send e-mails.

I use a different email for tech contacts

I noticed that as well.. I'm 101 in cue for their support chat, if it stays online.
Winter-Discipline233@reddit

yes๏ผit has been down since yesterday night. and our company depends on the system host on their to work......
justaguytrying299@reddit
If anyone is able to get back into there system I would love to hear about it. Tried their phones and emails...no luck reaching anyone. Hell, I even sent a note through their facebook page...very frustrating....
justaguytrying299@reddit
Not sure why they do not have another domain that is outside their network to post status updates so at least they can communicate with their clients in a case like this.

Baseball rules? 3 strikes and ... Anybody considering moving to AWS, Azure, Google?
Desperate_Gas7908@reddit
This would have been helpful eh.
justaguytrying299@reddit
It is like they disappeared of the face of the planet.
smattymatty_@reddit
Did they delete all their X posts, or was it always empty? Their youtube channel still has videos up, but from 3-12 years ago
Desperate_Gas7908@reddit
I messaged them on their instagram. Trying to be hopeful.
Desperate_Gas7908@reddit
This is what I'm worried about. Too many clients and no backups at this point. ๐
k00ka@reddit
Services were back up overnight, but are down again. Anyone heard anything? No response from CACloud.
kevin_j_morse@reddit
Tried calling and the phone line is not even working. Not good. Hoping they patched their Linux systems after all the scary bugs the last few weeks

Good point. just wondering it it might be part of a bigger west coast hack or DDOS going on (like the one a couple weeks back with all the Cpanels getting nuked) .
felix1429@reddit
Yeah, probably not.

Canada has the interwebz? ๐
St0nywall@reddit
Only during the winter, when we have enough ice roads to support all the traffic.
