I’m 15 (M) and I have been wanting to get a e bike (1.3k max) my parents said it has to be a class 2 (20mph 750w) but I want at least 30 mph is there any mods I can do to make it street legal and my parents are happy but I can switch the mode to go a little bit faster when my parents are not around (also keep in mind I’m very new to e bikes) also do you guys have any bike recommendations or suggestions for me

your best bet is to get a used class 1 e-bike from a nice brand. you will never be in better health than you are now, pedaling on such a bike, without a throttle, will feel absolutely and utterly effortless, far beyond 20mph

let your brain fully develop before getting something faster. odds are you’ll be fine but you don’t want to take that chance and fuck your life up for a little bit of a thrill

Your parents are genuinely keeping you safe. Wear a full face helmet too. Traumatic brain injuries are no joke & change people for life.

Ik but I Jst want like 30mph

I would recommend getting a class 1 or class 3 E-MTB that looks more like a bike. Some of the class 2 e-bikes look more like e-motos, and even if you are riding responsibly you could get harassed because too many kids are irresponsible on e motos

Nobody is going to recommend something that would be a) illegal, and b) could cause serious injury or death to a 15 year old.

If you get a class 3, the factory top speed will be 28 mph, but you’ll lose the throttle so it would be peddle assist only. Might be a decent compromise with your parents. Faster speed but more like a bike because you have to peddle.

My trek throttle is a great class 3. Throttles to 20mph then I can pedal to 28mph. Does most of the work then I can pedal to go faster or cruise at 20mph.

No.

Listen to your parents and buy a class 2.
