I'm torn between upgrading and waiting it out to build a new PC - looking for some opinions

Hey guys,

I'm looking for opinions here on whether I should look to upgrade my CPU/GPU or whether I should try to stick it out for a little longer and build a new PC altogether. Any advice is appreciated.

My set up:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S Redux
GPU: RTX 3070 8GB
RAM: DDR4 32GB 3200 CL16
Mobo: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX v2
PSU: 750W beQuiet Pure Power 11
Case: beQuiet Pure Base 500DX

Why do I want to improve performance:

I like to watch videos on my second monitor when I play games. However most games start to drop FPS whenever I watch videos in full screen on my second monitor. I also play some games on my 4k TV and as you could imagine, especially modern games don't exactly run as smooth as I would like them to. Most games are playable with DLSS, e.g. I played most of GoW Ragnarok on my TV and while I made it work with DLSS and tuned settings, but I could still tell that I have to give up visuals for performance, Especially modern titles with heavy workloads have to be played with a lot of visual and/or performance compromises. It just about works for now, but I'm not entirely happy with it either.

What am I looking for:

Maybe a 5070ti and maybe a Ryzen 5800X? Would realistically set me back like around 1100€+-. I've been on the lookout for 5800x3d/5700x3d, but there's no chance I'd be able to get one for a reasonable price. Made me feel stupid when I passed on a new 5800x3d for 320€ because I told myself "I'll buy it when the price drops below 300€".

On the one hand, investing into the AM4 ecosystem seems like a stupid idea, on the other hand, investing into a new plattform altogether seems just as stupid, given the current pricing situation. Also I know that the B550 only supports PCIe gen 4, but according to test results, this shouldn't amount to much performance loss over PCIe gen 5.

What's your opinion/advice?
