Should I stay or should I go?

Long story short, I 23 years old ATP 2700TT about 550 Turbine PIC (citation and king air) part 135, no 121 time. Recently got a job offer at Breeze on Airbus A220 and class date as well. The problem is I’m going to have break the contract with my company about $18,000 I would owe. My end goal is to get the big 3 as quick as I can. Should take the job at Breeze and keep applying til I get in or stay with my 135 company and build that PIC turbine time til and also keep applying to the big 3?
I’m just curious to hear the opinion on what would be the faster route…
Thanks

Breeze. 18g is nil in the long run
LeadingEdgeLandco@reddit
Send it. Get the 121 time. Airbus Type and seniority number with breeze. All much more valuable than 18k.
flymotodriver@reddit
I’m finishing my ATP/CTP rn then going to a regional at the beginning of the month. Our ATP instructor was a career 777 captain. He told us that if you can get a job at a bigger/better airline doing whatever you want to do, you should do it and break the training contract. Even though it may cost some money now, you’ll make more in the long run jumping ship earlier rather than waiting. A friend of mine is a SWA captain and said for every month you’re not in the airlines, it costs you about $100,000 but the end of your career at 65… just do it!
Kusarigamai@reddit
The big 3 want 121 experience, not saying you CANT get hired on your current path or it is much more unlikely. Every day you wait is seniority lost
Skyhawk_26@reddit
How'd you get that much time by 23 years old?
DefundTheHOA_@reddit
A pencil
ALTSCAP_ALTS_ALT@reddit
Love how this sub is accusing members of falsifying hours with no evidence whatsoever
DefundTheHOA_@reddit
It’s a joke, dude
Calm down
Mrs_Fagina@reddit
I mean technically you’re not wrong. The hours were likely logged via pen/pencil at some point.
Unless it’s electronic of course.
Skyhawk_26@reddit
To be clear, 2,700 hours at 23 years old equates to averaging an hour of flight time a day, every day, from the age of 16 to 23.
That is difficult to believe.
leftrightrudderstick@reddit
I'm not saying OP has rich parents who are enthusiastic about aviation. But if that's true those numbers are easily obtainable.
Long_Angle7718@reddit
Could be 3 hrs 3x a week for the same period
ThepilotGP@reddit
Im 24 with 4200… I did charter when I was 18 and been grinding 121 since 21, it’s def possible
Skyhawk_26@reddit
So, no college degree then? If not, that will hurt people trying to make it to the majors, especially with Spirit Pilots looking for work.
ThepilotGP@reddit
I got my degree online, I was also a spirit guy lol
Skyhawk_26@reddit
Damn. You've been kinda busy for the past 6 years or so.
ThepilotGP@reddit
Yea for sure. My 91/135 company had me flying some crazy hours
HappiestAnt122@reddit
I mean you’d probably need some rich uncle type connections but they could have been working for 5 years at this point if they got their CPL right when they turned 18
VileInventor@reddit
really triggered you huh, you falsifying hours? throw and insult on the ground it’s owner will pick it up.
LikenSlayer@reddit
Love how this Sub is accusing them of being serious & not joking, with no evidence whatsoever
Mrs_Fagina@reddit
Sir this is a very serious sub. We wear ties. Super serious businessman ties
LikenSlayer@reddit
Somebody just finished watching "Kingsman Secret service" 😂😂 i wear Bows
Bythion@reddit
Fly a lot.
DisregardLogan@reddit
You don’t say
trickster503@reddit
If you need someone to take over your contract hit me up. I don't have the experience but I gotta learn somewhere right?
Fizzo21@reddit
Go 121 if you want to be at a legacy, no brainer.
markeymarkbeaty@reddit
Go to Breeze
SRM_Thornfoot@reddit
It is time to move on. Do not get comfortable and grow roots until you are at the Legacy you want. I would pay 18K to move up one seniority number, if you want to look at it that way.
LikenSlayer@reddit
Pay the 18k & jump ship. You're losing more in the long run. Along with seniority, bids, vacation etc. To even get a notification they're reviewing your file, yet along a CJO, is huge in this market.
Mrs_Fagina@reddit
I heard Breeze sucks, but I also know Part 135 sucks more when compared to Part 121. There's just too much Part 121 TPIC floating around for Majors/Legacies to scoop up right now. They don't need 135 TPIC.
I guess the net is go to Breeze for 121 time, get abused, and leave. But I'm also a retard, so there's that.
clearingmyprop@reddit
We get abused here but there’s so much hiring and captain attrition of guys going to the legacies OP would likely be a like holder in a few months and a captain within a year and a half if he grinds
clearingmyprop@reddit
Upgrade times are fast at breeze. Our Attrition rate is very high for captains. In one year I’ve been here I’ve gone from the mid/high 500’s to the high 400’s in seniority. You can get here fly a bunch upgrade and hopefully be at a legacy faster than if you went to a regional. I’m in the process of trying to do that
IndependencePlane732@reddit
I'd bail and wait for them to come after you. See what your options actually are, whilst also being ready to pay it.
Breeze will be good for that 121 time, but also good because the big guys won't be cannibalizing their own regional feed when the decide to hire you.
Unlucky_Geologist@reddit
Aviation attorney. It’ll be pro-rated or completely thrown out for 1-2k.
cutebuny@reddit
This or they won’t even go after you they didn’t for me🫣🤫
H4ppenSt4nce@reddit
You already know… that’s why you applied and interviewed
ThatLooksRight@reddit
I’d break it. I can make 18k in like two 4 day trips at a legacy as a captain. 3 as an FO.
You’re better off getting the 121 time and moving up, IMO. It’ll pay for itself In the long run.
Also, any operator who has a contract for recurrent can suck my nuts. Initial? I’ll maybe reluctantly allow it. Recurrent? F off.
timelessblur@reddit
Add to this let them threaten you on the claw back. Pay a lawyer to basically say no and wait to see on their response. More often than not they drop it and call the money lost. Now if they push back pay it but you are going to make them work a little for it.
Long_Angle7718@reddit
Read this 10x OP
a_provo_yakker@reddit
It’s a tough one. Even if he left for breeze today, it’s gonna be a while before he’s got the hours and a realistic spot in line at a legacy (ie making the money you reference). Not saying he shouldn’t break it, but also might not have $18k just laying around.
Also worth noting that every once in a while a Breeze thread shows up, and it manages to attract more negative than positive sentiment. Company, culture, QOL, bases, low amount of flying especially on reserve. Could be cushy if OP lives in one of their domiciles which is a bit more offbeat; Provo, Charleston, Raleigh. Actually from what I remember off the top of my head, there aren’t any regionals in any Breeze domiciles.
Breeze could be the better move for the short term. But also on the off chance OP could get a PIC spot soon and start flying their tail off, that might be a better long-term strategy. Hard to say.
