Analysis Paralysis - A or B??

Looking at us getting ebikes to take better advantage of our city's greenbelt/bike lanes. Want the kiddie carrier on the back for longer planned rides where my son decides he doesn't want to pedal his bike any more, or potentially inflatable paddle boards, etc.
Currently in a dilemma deciding between used and new.
Used- Pedego stretch, $1200, owner claims under 2500 miles total.
New- Lectric Xpedition2, $1399-$1799 if we spring for the dual battery. Memorial Day sale, etc.
Wild Card- two seperate FB marketplace bikes for Trek eBikes with Bosch motors, but no kiddie seat on the back, could look into aftermarket additions, but he's getting bigger/6 years old now. Total here would add up to an average of $1300 per bike. ($900+$1700).
Online says Pedego has higher quality, family friends own Lectric's and love them, and the consensus seems to point to good customer service. I lean to the Bosch system for the pedigree and the more traditional bike shape, but seems to be too many concessions as far as hauling kids/toys/etc.

The Pedego will be light weight compared to the Lectric. It tips and turns more easily. Parts service used is kinda meh right now. Due to it being lighter weight or at least feeling, Id be uncertain about having a kid on the back if theyre not balanced. A new Lectric with a warranty is probably the best choice out of those options. The orbiter is pretty sturdy with the running boards and extra cushion. Id opt for the extra battery even though it'll add a good amount of weight. Its a butt to work on the rear, but thats a mechanic perspective. If you intend to do your own maintenance be prepared.
Can't comment on the Treks. Im Bosch certified, but theyre 100% proprietary and you'd need to have a Bosch certified shop/mechanic to have it serviced. Its a great system, but can be pricey, at least on the service side of things. Should check with Bosch before you pull that trigger.

the pedego has cable brakes that lose power as the brake pads wear in. the new lectric cargo bike I have found on the one I worked on was very nice once all of the bolts were tightened back in. but it did have a loose brake caliper mount that needed tightening. treks are good but a different type of bike it will struggle to haul a 6 yr old comfortably . I would go lectric and a shop service to check the bolts or check all the bolts are tight yourself in like 100 miles.

I just crossed 250 miles on the letric Xpedition. I won’t offer advice as this is my first e-bike, BUT, if you have any questions I’d love to try and answer them!

Are you hauling cargo or kids more?

So far I’ve not been able to get the orbital rack, but I’ve used it to get minor things from the store. The back section is easily rigged up with a small rope i have though. After some awkward attempts I did look into the tool storage options (I’m an electrician so I gravitated towards what I know) and the Milwaukee packout mounting plate is the perfect size for the back deck of the bike. Lots of options there for cargo hauling. I do have the running boards and back cushions and I’ll say the running boards will limit your ability to lean the bike. I knock my pedals pretty often still going around a corner if I’m not paying attention

Love the idea of the Packout plate!
