NEED RECOMMENDATIONS - e-bike under $500 please!

Hi, I’m looking to purchase an e-bike. I eventually want to invest into my dream one, but right now I’m looking for one that can help me move around better. I have an RV and wanting something to get back and forth atoms town, to coffee shops, cross the bridge to the beach (I live in Miami), grocery runs, etc.
I have been recommended Lelekuia for $200 from one of my friends here. She loves it, lives off the beach and works there. Says it actually can go up to 50mph and has a 40 mile range.
What I’m looking for:
-$500 or less (but if worth it will go up to $700)
-Foldable
-Minimum 40 miles on one charge
-Pedal Assist + Full Bike mode
-Strong enough motor, mostly flat but will be carrying some supplies
-Space for storage
-Removable Battery
-I’m not sure if some go faster than advertised or I know you can mod later but I’m not sure about that or what to look for in that
(Chatty - Chat GPT) recommended:
-Windhorse W4A
-Blutron EB350F Folding Ebike
-GoTrax foldable
-Lelekuai (friend has)
Thank you anyone that is able to help! Bonus if you have tested multiple brands or if you can at least recommend one🙏🙏

Okie, I’ll look into that! Thank you for taking the time to reply! 🫶

Oops “hi-boy“ not “hobby.”

😅 thank you for correcting that rabbit hole 🙏

Can't recommend any ebike that costs less than a decent battery.
SnooSuggestions6288@reddit
walmart
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
That’s fair, but my life needs something to get me further than my skateboard and I only have around $500.
But thank you! Hopefully someone can at least recommend something for me that can help for now🙏

try amazon
TwoWheel_Detective@reddit
I checked and Lelekuia actually has good reviews.
Some assembly QC issues but a responsive customer service.
$300 new, who would have thunk it?

Thanks for looking into for me, this is all new to me 🙏🫶

Used is the only real choice
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Thank you so much! That seems to be the best move for me 🙏🙏

The best ones are the ones purchased by a senior that discovered they can't use it. Those bikes will generally have less than 100 miles. Also people that needed to commute for a couple months to save for a car.
Don't buy one that is missing keys or a charger. Those bikes were probably stolen.

This is great advice, thank you for responding 🙏🙏

Not sure if you’re trying to help but thanks for the GIF 😆🤷♀️🙏🫶

I’m not. This is a question that gets asked daily. You could have just used the search function to get the same answers you don’t want to hear. Good luck to ya though, not sure why you posted here as it seems you already have your mind made up after talking to your friend. lol.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Then why did you take the time to post? Idk how Reddit works but if I don’t have anything to add to a question I just don’t comment…and you might be confused but I just got more help in the past hour than I have researching on my own and going through all the threads on Reddit.
If you want to be helpful tag the posts because I didn’t find them, or if you’re just wanting to comment to get it off your chest, I guess that’s okay, just trying to understand 😅🤷♀️🫶

Good luck with your search. It took more effort for me to respond that way than to be actually helpful. A pitfall I typically try to avoid. My apologies. Chalk it up to a tougher than normal Monday setting the tone.

Check out Upway.com for certified used bikes.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Oh thank you! Never heard of that 🙏🙏
Lucidlie@reddit
A used euc, if you already skate these are the most bang for your buck in terms of speed and range
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Perfect! I’ll do some digging!
Thank you for taking your time to reply 🙏🙏
AttentionHelpful3996@reddit
I would look for a used one in the price range
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Thank you for your reply! I’m checking Facebook marketplace, would you recommend anywhere else? 🙏🫶
AttentionHelpful3996@reddit
I’m not sure of where else honestly. Good luck though! And make sure, whatever you buy that you never charge the batter with a different than vendor supplied charger. That’s sure to start a fire.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Ooo wouldn’t even think of that 😬 (that’s why I’m here, I’ve tried to research on my own but I love the community here).. I’m planning on getting a solar pack to charge, but I’ll make sure to keep my original charger.
Thank you!
RoundSyrup4424@reddit
Nope, good e-bike batteries cost around $500. A whole e-bike for $500 would be both a fire hazard and a hazard to ride. Don’t do it, period.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Thank you but my first 3 comments aren’t very helpful 🤭, but thank you for taking the time, once again I have a friend that has a $200 that’s worked for over a year, was just wanting to get any other recommendations from anyone who has an e-bike under $500
Flashbulb_RI@reddit
Your friend has a $200 E bike that can go 50 mph? I don’t think so. You’re going to put your body and dwelling at risk . At a minimum, get something that is UL certified.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
It does but she only rides around 20-30 mph because her commute. I don’t plan on going faster than what’s on there without registering but I just want that option in the future if possible now.
When I can, I’ll be more in the $3,000-$4,000 range, just needing something to start 🙏🫶
Jaded_Assistance_906@reddit
Sounds like you're set on the bike your friend suggested. Just get it then. You won't get anything but down votes in this sub.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
😆 okay…thanks🤷♀️ still gonna keep it up because I’ve already gotten some good advice, I’m new to Reddit so downvote/no vote/up vote is irrelevant to me if I at least get 1 recommendation.. just got a question and looking for legit replies 🫶
twking321@reddit
Might be able to find a used mountain bike conversion but $500 is a tough budget
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
That’s completely understandable! In a month or two I can get a better one I just need something now with the money I have in my pocket 🙏
Jump_and_Drop@reddit
Here's what I bought. It looks like it's the Qlife Racer. I should get mine on Wednesday. Some colors are a lot cheaper than others.

Thank you!! Please let me know how it goes if I have purchased mine yet 🙏

I'd keep an eye on FB marketplace
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
That’s a great idea! I was unsure about used ones but I already have someone I’m going to use for repairs so could have him also have him do a pre-check for me 🙏🙏
Inciteful_Analysis@reddit
You can get a new Ride1up Portola (folder) for $795 that will be leagues better than these bikes. It is on clearance.
Of the ones you list, I would go with Gotrax because they are a reputable scooter brand and have a reputation to protect.
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
Thank you so much for this! 🙏 First actual recommendation 😁 I’ll do some research now!
Dismal-Witness-5510@reddit
I think a scooter is in the cards for you good sir or madam
Any-Yellow2326@reddit (OP)
(Madam, but I can be called anyone)
I host Art Events a few times a week and need something I can carry supplies with and travel up to 30 miles one way.
Looking for e-bike recommendations based on what I posted, if a scooter can get me that far + hold my supplies + comfortable to ride for miles, then for sure. If all else fails my friend got a Lelekuia for $200 and is worked for over a year for her.
Thank you!
