Why does the body seem to curve up in the aft? Is it because the length is so long, that you would otherwise risk a tailstrike? And would adding some ground clearance via the landing gear have mitigated that?

Basically all aircraft do that.
The A330/A340 are nose down on the ground, which makes it a bit more visible.
Unless you mean the windows curving up?

I got to fly on an a340 exactly once on the now defunct Joon airline, under Air France. I was in their “premium” cabin or whatever they called it. Was a good experience.
