A podcast I listen to was just getting into that, the Moriarty episodes expose a giant danger in the system and Geordi should've gotten in trouble for it, as should whoever in Starfleet allowed safeties to be turned off.
I recall my mother -- who is not a Star Trek fan -- often walking into the room and frequently remarking "Why do they even have this holodeck thing?" after seeing just a few minutes of a holodeck episode.
There would be endless Congressional hearings today if we had VR video games on naval vessels that frequently killed our sailors or took over our vessels. Apparently, we're cool with that a few hundred years from now.
She’s at a party and Q is up to his shenanigans and riker whispers in Picards ear informing him of the situation and Lwaxana overhears via her telepathic abilities and “interrogates” Picard to understand the complicated emotions he’s feeling regarding Q’s presence.
It’s been some years since I listened to the audio book, but I think Q even temporarily gives her the powers of the Q.
It's been a while since I read it, but it's something like Q shows up and disrupts a diplomatic conference on the Enterprise when Lwaxana is there, and then he either tries to seduce her or she tries to romance him (I do not recall what instigates this either way)
I know Lwaxana gets the powers of a Q at one point and beats the shit out of Q
I was thinking more about the "Deanna gets mentally raped", "Deanna gets posseses or influanced by a malignant force" or "Deanna gets impregnated with a weird starchild" variety problems.
Like the one where she lost her ability to sense emotions and Riker basically a huge ass towards her, which is definitely the same way everyone would act towards Picard, or Riker or Worf if they went blind. Worf would probably be busy asking for the suicide ritual instead of getting a visor but everyone is like 'why can't you just be a normal human?? You must be sooo snotty, thinking you're better than us if you're upset at losing one of your normal senses' to Deanna, which always seemed hugely speciest to me. It doesn't matter what senses THEY don't have, if she loses one that's normal to her, it's a big deal TO HER, because she's not actually a human.
Would actually be pretty funny if that was true, and it's just like...socially acceptable to possess people where there from.
Like this was just a normal, peaceful first contact from the Bug Alliance and now they think the Federation are batshit crazy xenophobes who kill diplomatic ambassadors.
I disagree when llaxwana troi wants to bone Picard it's more than a problem it's major problem for everyone in the galaxy not even Q shows up when she has an episode that's how you know it's so dangerous and big of a problem.
That's hilarious. Obviously just never thought of as an idea but I love the thought that if Q decides to pop in when Ilaxwana is around he just turns around and leaves is peak. Shes SO BAD one of the most powerful entities in the universe doesn't want to deal with her.
I do like the idea of her somehow reading Q's mind and revealing somehow embarrassing stuff. Is Ilaxwana can flustered Q she's unstoppable, LMAO.
Riker left the ship and something terrible happened. There was the time that the angry scientist tried to kill him and blew up his own space station, there was the time he got kidnapped by the xenophobic aliens and held in a hospital, there wasthe time he got kidnapped by the little alien kid who convinced him he was captain of the Enterprise, there was the time he banged that androgynous alien so well that she turned into a woman, there was the time he was abducted by aliens, there was the time he was held in a mental institution, the time he brought back the super addictive game, and that’s just off the top of my head.
If he leaves the ship, he causes problems. But if he’s in charge of the ship, he also causes problems. I guess all we can do with him is let him stand there and yell “red alert”. No other duties.
You're forgetting the biggest one Transporter malfunction of the day. Literally every episode there's something wrong with the transporter that requires engineering to be too busy with it to solve other problems or for the magical energy conversion machine to solve the problems for you.
It's not one of the most common types, but there are too many episodes where the problem is Riker is given command, and despite being "the best", he promptly craps the bed and puts the entire ship at risk.

Ah touché. The main one I was thinking of was Deanna loses her powers, or Deanna fell in love with the villain of the week.

To be fair, at least one of those examples I listed was ALSO an example of her falling in love with the villain of the week.
