[CLK DTM] Solid Progress

We have just finished a second kit with the adjustments we identified from the first kit.
We are working this week to correct some finishing details and pretend to apply the D2 Telekom livery!

Very nice amg?
FlyBirdieBirdBird@reddit
Did you wash the rear arches with hot water? They seem to have shrunk. Significantly.
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
I do see what you are seeing.
The original fender does go inwards to mesh with the rear bumper. I’m hoping this impression will be corrected by suspension height/camber and wheel spacers ajudstments
FlyBirdieBirdBird@reddit
No way. You are missing several cm of rear arch width.

I think this is amazing but it needs some different tail lights maybe and definitely needs to be dropped more in the rear or maybe bigger tires to fill out the gap more. Besides that it looks amazing. Actually a rear diffuser would tie it together too. The rear looks too stock compared to the front though. But the front is freaking perfect.

Cheers dude. The suspension is being adjusted this week
This is a DTM replica and both the front and rear are very similar to the original car (still struggling a bit with the rear wheel fenders). I think the livery itself does the job of complimenting everything that is now missing
DrifterDavid@reddit
I think dropping the rear would help a whole lot.

This is happening. We built the bodykity with the car jacked, so we did not have the ideia of how it would settle until today

I think you should go to an immense amount of additional effort to make the front end resemble a W202 for no particular reason
in all seriousness, this thing looks incredible and I look forward to the livery update post
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Thanks man. We do have a 202 waiting in the garage 👀

Soooo sick

Thanks!

The Mercedes engineers in the 2000’s were onto something

Miss my 208. They're great little cars, and are super underrated. They handle pretty well, too! Front suspension architecture and steering box are a little weird, but the bones are there and works well with the multi link rear.

Will test it on track soon!

i actually love the more straight lines and edges added to the smoother lines of the CLK. a bit wacky but like it!!
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
100% agreed.
What would you say is wacky?
wesleypaulwalker@reddit
i suppose the rounded edges of the trunk area with the straight wing on top? but i dont mean that in a bad way just that i dont always see it. i love it!! the wheels are great. im jealous me brother
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Of course not, dude, no offense taken at all.
We are doing this by hand and based off a Tamiya model, any insight is very welcome.
I am also not 100% satisfied, but do think the livery will solve many minor issues
stillusesAOL@reddit
A blended spoiler or lip on the rear edge of the trunk lid I think is a necessity for this build. Doesn’t have to big or major.
wesleypaulwalker@reddit
a subtle lip that sharpens that top trunk lid would certainly do it! thats a good idea.
Traxtar150@reddit
The rear end looks like some odd combination of JDM vehicles with 90s mods. Definitely needs more work to be cohesive with the front and sides.
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
I will try to make the edges more round. Also think changes to rear suspension height, camber and wheel spacing may help with this impression
grizzdoog@reddit
Glad you like it!
NaiveSurvey9180@reddit
That’s hard. Keep it up.
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Thank you very much, sir
AutoTransportMover@reddit
Good work.
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Thank you dude
boostedmike1@reddit
Cool af
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Thanks mike!
PVTSprinkles@reddit
rear needs some cut springs and it will be almost perfect
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Precisely, we are planning on this and maybe bumping the front up a bit because it will be a street car
WitchHunterNL@reddit
For it to look right it needs much bigger wheels, cut much more into the body.
It's also why all the 190 Evo replicas don't look right.
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
There is no more space in the wheel housing. I understand this is the diference between the production CLK and the silhouette developed around the DTM chassis
Final_Nail_4343@reddit
Cacete, uma CLK DTM no brasil?
Soft-Cabinet-1450@reddit (OP)
Hell yeah
