My parents haven't cleaned their pool in a few months, and we saw this on one of the steps. It's about the size of my palm. I tried identifying it on my own and so far I've read that it could be some kind of colony of microscopic organisms or bacteria. Does anyone know what it actually is? And should I be concerned?
