replace all generative ai in search engines with a literal guy named dave sitting in a windowless room who just frantically googles things for you and types back his best guess

he works around the clock if you ask a complex coding question or a recipe you just get to watch a live webcam feed of dave sweating and reading stack overflow trying to figure it out for you
it would be infinitely more reliable and entertaining than whatever silicon valley is trying to force on our phones right now
would anyone else actually pay a premium subscription just to use dave instead of an algorithm

I use Google, and it's frustrating to see that Gemini just does the Google and scan approach that I had mastered over years.
Meanwhile, I can't find those results because Google search results are a bit cooked now.

Google deliberately made their search results bad about 4 years ago to make us search more to increase ad revenue. Disgusting.

Dumb him down to a 5th grade level socially and make him your biggest fan that gaslights you and you're back where you started...

I couldn't find a Dave near me. Would a Mike be OK? He was eager to get started, just saying.

Just like AQA was then?

This actually used to be a thing around 2010. There were companies called kgb and ChaCha that literally had you send a Google like question to their site and not only would a real person just Google it for you, but a second real person would double check and verify their answer.

This is just a Chinese room
This could work.

Not crazy.
This is literally the situation now. Except that the guy in the windowless room is named Rajendra and he is in Bangalore.
