so i’ve had 2 prebuilts that’s served me well and now i have the money to splurge on a high end pc and just needed guidance/help my budget for the pc is around $3500 and i have a build in mind but im not sure if it’s optimal or anything and i would appreciate advice. i want to be able to play competitive games at 240fps at 1440p and single player games at 4k 60+fps

Must pick the main purpose first, aka which is yoir main game. Must choose one, is it the game for 4K 60fps or eSport one. Pick just one so everything is focused and optimized for that one main game.
If the main gamevis faster on CUDA and has ray tracing or path tracing choose Nvidia, if the game is faster on Stream Process choose AMD GPU.

why do you have that kingston nv3 nvme?

oh thats there cause i was just changing around stuff and forgot to remove it. but would it be smart to have a second one just for the os or something idk

you have a WD Black 850x 4TB. This one has DRAM, so i would assume you will use this as boot drive. and it's 4TB, so I dont know why you'd need a slower 1TB drive as a secondary. most people usually buy a small NVMe but with DRAM as boot drive, and then get a slower but with more capacity as secondary for storage.

what would you recommend if i were to go with a boot drive and a storage drive? storage drive being 4tb
Legitimate_Payment49@reddit
pretty much the other way around: WD Black 1TB as boot drive and Kingston NV3 4TB (if they make it) as secondary. People do this to save money. But if you can afford WD Black 4TB, you dont need to get two drives (4TB is plenty for a lot of people); you can get that WD Black 4TB now and when you run out of space, you can then get a second 4TB (or even 8TB) as secondary.

Personally, I would just stick with that 4TB SN850X for everything. I find separate drives to have limited utility, unless you tend to reformat your OS drive a lot. Even then you would probably have to go through and migrate data off the OS drive first, anyway.
One caveat to that is, if you dual-boot Windows and Linux, it's best to have them on separate drives to avoid complications. Windows doesn't play well with other boot loaders on the same drive.

I have a separate ssd mostly for my OS just cause why not. You can probably look around more for better prices but no crazy difference fr. Windows can be bought for less through websites like vipurcdkey but if you dont like the idea of that, the pc build can def run what you want

Basically the same, the parts I swapped are higher quality but also cheaper. Total is now $2860.
I got rid of the Kingston SSD since you said you added it by mistake and it's a budget option I wouldn't get for your price point.
I switched the case as well but that's personal preference and you can always change it back.
For the SSD, I made one of them free since it show's as Available Soon on amazon. But if you can buy that get that instead. But if you can't, it's no big deal since the one I picked is good enough for gaming, it's only worse than the one you picked if you regularly do large writes.
