Headlight bezels on a rubber bumper MGB

How the hell do you remove them?!?! I’ve tried to unscrew them like the earlier ones, tried to gently pry from the outside but I feel like I’ll chip the paint if I go to hard and I’m almost convinced they’re permanent at this point
Any help appreciated, pic for attention
DaJeeper@reddit
That thing is sweeeet! What did you use for the rearend?
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
I’m in the process of putting a ford 9” in it at the moment
DaJeeper@reddit
Dude, nice
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
That’s cause I paid someone else to do it 🤣
DaJeeper@reddit
Hey, we can't do EVERTHING right? Totally worth whatever you paid considering the beast you have up front
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
No joke. Quick Performance pulled through on this one, and for a custom axle it wasn’t unreasonable
The GTs are freaking sweet!
No hood makes life so much easier cause you can mount in the top of the frame solid, which raises the CG but it doesn’t matter for most builds also, “apparently” you lose a bit of subtlety 🤣
DaJeeper@reddit
Subtlety hahaha... Did you use and if so how long did the factory rearend last? I have lots of questions my dude haha. What a sweet ride
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Thanks much man,
The factory rear lasted until I tried to launch on a prepped surface. Mostly I had a swirl port that I was cruising around with, and seemed to do just fine
but I was going to get a bit more serious I did a unshrouded vortec head/intake swap with a beefier cam.
Foot brake launch, turned the rear into soup and overrevved the poor engine hurting it.

Hearing protection for yourself, but fuck everyone around you I guess.

Sustained vs passing exposure
I can drive past an air strip without Earpro
I’m damn sure wearing ear pro if I work there
Same deal
gumption_boy@reddit
Nobody who sees this car is gonna be looking at the fucking headlight bezels. This is sick 🤙🏼
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Appreciate it!
Gotta change the 3 candlepower headlights and Lucas wiring though
gumption_boy@reddit
If you wait just a little longer, the Lucas wiring should go ahead and remove itself
sneekeruk@reddit
Come on, he's already had one fire, he's trying to prevent the next one.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
🤣 yall are ruthless
Love it though.
jimbofranks@reddit
Been YEARS but I think they pop off from the bottom.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
I tried with a plastic trim tool to no avail but it was kinda a cheap POS, about to make a little hook tool from a flathead and see how she goes
See that’s the problem, I was really aiming for subtlety
jimbofranks@reddit
Yeah, this is a job for a screwdriver or prybar. Use a rag under it to protect the paint.
everyoneisatitman@reddit
You have a giant crate in your garage labled ACME don't you.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Believe it or not this is actually the more tame of the two projects I’ve had
The other project was a slammed Mazda B 2200 with a big block 454 in it, unfortunately, I lost that in a fire due to somebody else’s jealousy
jbjhill@reddit
That sound like a very sad story. I’m sorry.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
It was a sad day indeed cooked half my tracker too.
porcelainvacation@reddit
Thats the most creative dis I have ever heard, I love it.
juwyro@reddit
They're held on by the clips and they just pop off. I've only had mine off once though.
video
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Appreciate it man!
I’ll give it a go today after work, wish me luck….i don’t think they’ve been removed since it was built….
Licbo101@reddit
You have to kinda push down on the bezel and then swing the bottom out if memory serves. Or the opposite. Can’t remember. It’s doable, take your time
Immediate-Clock1230@reddit
Aaaa, what is the engine there? Can you see the road while full throttle? (I means exhaust pipes are right in front of driver's face) Sick but cool!
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Small block Chevy, 350 in the pick. Stroker is what will be replacing it.
Sightline isn’t too bad, I sit a bit above the windscreen lol
Immediate-Clock1230@reddit
Yep, driver position is the key! Is there any place where the full project can be seen?
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Not really, I share pics here and there but I don’t really have a dedicated build thread
Immediate-Clock1230@reddit
Hm, okay, when did you start your project journey?
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Way too long ago lol (2021)
I went against common advice and picked up a half finished project….which I quickly discovered meant I needed to modify/change nearly everything after breaking a lot of stuff very quickly
Immediate-Clock1230@reddit
But it means, now you have a proper attachment to her ... It would be nice to be able to see the full story from the beginning, and hopefully more or less complete finish!
Do you keep photos/notes to roughly remember the path you went through so far?
BKEDDIE82@reddit
Nice.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Thank you!
BKEDDIE82@reddit
Make sure to post a video when the stroker is in.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
I definitely will, but fuck I still have a long road ahead discovered the forged pistons I bought are absolutely wrong for my build and now that the piston choice is in the air I’m rethinking my rod length decision
Just like everything else with this kinda build it quickly snowballs
BKEDDIE82@reddit
It's always something.
Cam_e_ron@reddit
im sorry, I cant help. But that car looks incredible, the zoomies are incredible.
myfishprofile@reddit (OP)
Appreciate the kind words internet stranger!
