I’m convinced everyone in Milton Keynes has one roundabout they quietly dislike

I personally dislike the Kelly’s Kitchen roundabout, near the former Marshall factory. It is the most confusing roundabout. Which one do you dislike the most?
EyeAware3519@reddit
I hate the Kingston roundabout now they installed traffic lights, has made congestion so bad Waze now always directs me around Oakgrove to avoid it.
nsx-y@reddit
now?? it was worse before the traffic lights bc people just pulled out
Trentdison@reddit
Do you mean the Brinkley roundabout - as that's the one that's recently been remodelled with traffic lights. It feels like the Kingston roundabout as the Kingston shopping centre is within view of it, but Kingston roundabout is east one block, by the BP garage.
I used to hate the Brinkley roundabout before the remodel due the sheer amount of people that used to start in the middle lane on the approach and not understand that as left lanes were for left only, they had to be in the left most lane after the first turning. Now that doesn't happen. And for that, I forgive it the lights. It doesn't take me long to get through it when I use it fortunately.
EyeAware3519@reddit
Yeah I mean that one although they are both awful
EmptyRestaurant2410@reddit
I think that must be the Brinklow roundabout by Tesco? But the Kingston roundabout is terrible too. People don't follow the lane markings
Mr_Valmonty@reddit
Redmoor roundabout. I don't hate the roundabout itself, but the floor arrows leading up to it are wrong in both directions
Jolly-Ad-8088@reddit
Bottledump Roundabout, Standing Way - because it splits into one lane going left, one lane going on to A421 to Buckingham, you always get these absolute throbbers trying to chance it up the left lane around those queueing on the right. I've seen several cars just fly right into the roundabout itself too.
HunterFast4401@reddit
Totally unnecessary left turn only lane. Bonkers hardly anyone turns left.
LiE85@reddit
I openly hate Kelly's Kitchen roundabout, they've made a right mess of it.
yardders@reddit
But its a million times better than it was, just follow the lane markings, theyre pretty bold. Used to predict people cutting me off going straight over the A5, never happens now.
mercilesskiller@reddit
I get cut off all the time by people in lane for a5 going right towards the road past the old factory.
LiE85@reddit
To be fair the only challenge I have with this round about is coming from Bowbrick hill to Fenny. Lane markings and signs/lane signs don’t agree. Results in 2 lanes both going to the middle lane and lots of honking.
OneArmJack@reddit
Roman Roundabout in Bletchley. Really confusing and difficult to anticipate which exit people are taking.
EnjoysAGoodRead@reddit
Is that the double roundabout by Bletchley Tesco? I failed my first driving test on that roundabout. Bloody hated it ever since as it cost me an extra £2k in lessons and knocked confidence.
Notagelding@reddit
Same. Coming up to that one I was in the wrong lane, so changed but didn't properly do observations. Luckily it was quiet anyway, unluckily it led to me failing 😂 Should have practised that one beforehand! I passed a month after but on a different route
t3trishead@reddit
Correct answer. I’ve been driving for over 25 years and it’s an absolutely death trap the likes of which I’ve seen nowhere else.
BananaHomunculus@reddit
I abhore this junction. It just looks like someone fucked up the road design and had to jumble up some ideas of how to fix it and still did a shit job.
Bimblelina@reddit
That one is the worst, even if you know which exit you would like to leave on, everyone on it when you arrive l is vibe-driving just hoping to leave it safely through whichever exit Lady Luck offers up.
Brutos08@reddit
I used to shop at the Tesco in Bletchley and that round about stopped me from going there it just isn’t worth it 😂😂 Probably one of worst pieces of road I have driven in the UK. From Scotland to Wales and the South Coast
TheBadgersNadgers@reddit
I hate that one and avoid going that way when it’s busy - if you’re driving from Tesco direction over towards Ikea, the shape of that roundabout by Aldi feels so unnatural and nobody stays in their lanes
RMFrankingMachine@reddit
To top it off the markings are completely faded, although I think the arrows make it more confusing but the lane makings would be helpful...
BillPayers@reddit
The two little ones between Furzton and Emerson Valley. They're just stupid
Beneficial_Bird_1905@reddit
Yes these are annoying
NoodleSpecialist@reddit
Walnut tree roundabout, right next to kingston roundabout. It's so badly designed and so inadequate to bad drivers it often backs up to kingston roundabout. It clearly needs an extra left only lane and an extra lane all the way from kingston roundabout to manage the traffic coming that way
Cold-Understanding92@reddit
Over the A5 near Stacey Bushes. People just roll a dice to decide which lane they're going to use.
Far-Crow-7195@reddit
I don’t like any of them where there is a left turn only lane. The people in the lane next to it hardly ever move to the left lane of the roundabout but just go straight across cutting me up. Happens all the time.
hamsterbasher@reddit
Yes, this. It drives me mad.
Yolandi2802@reddit
Mine is the A421 crossover on the Watling Street (A5).
BananaHomunculus@reddit
So I sort of hate the old Wolverton roundabout. It's always fucked up, it looks very unassuming and small but I've seen a few crashes on it and had a couple near misses myself. I dont know what it is, for all intents and purposes it looks fine but it seems to cause issues.
prettykittenspace@reddit
definitely the one by ikea
Routine_Map2832@reddit
Child’s way and over gate, towards west side of the city
The fake roundabout
ExtraPersonality1066@reddit
Portway Roundabout. It was a hot mess before they added the traffic signals, and all those did was make it worse.
InevitableAd8210@reddit
Newton leys / lb bypass one - hate it
GreenAmigo@reddit
The small egg ones outside the wolverton tescos as the amount of time traffic grinds to halt cause people can remeber the rule is rught of way
HwD83@reddit
That Bletchley roundabout has everyone in cold sweats 😅
Br0kenCompass@reddit
That five way roundabout near Woburn sands and Kingston, top of standing way. I hate it and I can’t tell you why.
singlerider@reddit
I took hate the Kelly's Kitchen roundabout, especially when coming South on the A5, or towards Milton Keynes on the A4146.
Let's start with South on the A5:
There are 4 lanes, and 4 exits. Exits 2 & 3 are dual carriageways. Clearly I'm affording people far too much common sense, but you would think (surely?!) it's pretty fucking obvious that exit 1 = use lane 1. Exit 2 = use lane 2. Exit 3 = use lane 3. Exit 4 = use lane 4. Now maybe 2 & 3 can get a little confusing, because they're dual carriageways, so lane 3 can be exit 2 or 3, and lane 4 can be exit 3 or 4, but c'mon - it ain't that hard, is it? (Clearly...it is. Apparently if you're in lane 2 it's also almost impossible to stay in that lane and not drift into lane 3...)
But what makes absolutely zero sense on any fucking planet is the number of people who choose lane 1, but want exit 3 or 4?!!? What's wrong with you people?
Same coming the other way on the A4146. Okay, maybe slightly harder this time because there are 4 exits and 2 lanes, and I know dividing by 2 can be really really hard...but is it that difficult to figure out that lane 1 is for exits 1 & 2, and lane 2 is for exits 3 & 4?
Why on earth are people cutting across 3 lanes of traffic on the roundabout because they picked the left lane but wanted to turn right? What on earth is going on...you live in Milton Keynes but don't know how to drive round a roundabout,? Like, dude...you get enough fucking practice, how are you so shit at this???
davaydavaydavay@reddit
North Grafton roundabout going into Patriot Dr. When it’s busy!
malumfectum@reddit
The Kingston roundabout where the lane arrows don’t match up to the lane you need.
iamthedon@reddit
It's so ridiculous. I remember once I thought I was going mad so drove riund several times trying to figure it out
Haslerdesigns@reddit
All the usual classics including ikea / tesco but one that never gets mentioned is the first junction roundabout coming off the A5 onto portway/H5. It’s fine if people are going left (east) towards the city centre, but people get caught out going west because as you move onto the round about you need to be in the middle lane not the right hand one. Lots of people assume they need to be in the right lane and then get caught out trying to move over as they go round
MakeBrainThink@reddit
Fox Milne by the Shell. Not the worst but you always get the brightest of drivers who can’t follow their lane through and cut. Lines would fix it.
_TheThinkingMan_@reddit
Fox Milne and Pineham going East to West. 3 lanes going straight across invites all sorts of weaving
SomeoneBritish@reddit
Yes, and also 3 lands merging into 2 as soon as you exit. It's legitimately unsafe.
nubianfx@reddit
Quietly? Lol I hate Roman Roundabout out loud! Lol
gentlepersuasion420@reddit
Any roundabout with more than 3 lanes.
OmniWise@reddit
Northfield roundabout near Coachways. I've had more close calls there than any other roundabout, as people take the wrong lane from both left and right side and decide they want to cut over regardless of who is in the way.
wf6r@reddit
H3 V6 roundabout, I've been hit on that roundabout 3 times because people can't put their fucking phones down
Dear_Communication59@reddit
Broughton interchange to get onto the M1 can be a fucking nightmare
Megaprana@reddit
The big one on the A5 by Old Stratford. I always end up in the wrong lane and have to make an awkward switch.
surfsquid@reddit
Everyone hates that one tbf
EyeAware3519@reddit
Pretty sure it was just installed as a piss take
Twistykhorne@reddit
That one used to provoke fear on my driving lessons. Part of the reason I took my test in Welly.
