What should I do about my PureGym parking fine denied appeal?

You broke the rules. What is there to appeal? It’s not PureGyms job to remind you to put your reg in. Also a lot of times the car park outside a pure gym isn’t actually owned by them so it makes no sense in contacting them either. You broke the rules, accidentally but you did, take your medicine and pay the fine.

Hello again, just thought I’d let you know that PureGym have kindly and happily agreed to reject the fine stating “We will never penalise members who park correctly to use the gym”, so instead of being a sad little know it all maybe you should mind your business in the future.

Mind my business? You asked in an open forum 😁 And your petty response here doesn’t reflect well on you.

There’s always one, why would you not want to try and get out of paying a fine, who’s the victim, the multi million pound company that owns the car park that I have the legal right to park out due to paying over £300 a year for a membership. People make mistakes no need to be so rude.

“There’s always one” One who follows the rules? Why are you pretending that’s a bad thing. You didn’t put your reg in. That’s your fault. Grow some balls and accept the fine.

There’s a difference between following the rules and an accident. I’m asking about next steps if there’s nothing to be done I will pay the fine, however it will be a struggle as a student to fork out £100. How would you feel if you had to pay 25% of your monthly income, I’d imagine you’d assess options and see if you have the ability to not.

I would be annoyed at myself for making the mistake and not try to blame others. I’m sure it was an accident as I said in my initial comment.

Of course I’m annoyed at myself and I’ll absolutely not make the mistake again. I get your point and if I was in a better place I’d have payed the fine with no complaint. I think you should do some research on Daniel Kahnemans “What you see is all there is” concept before you make snarky comments again. Maybe in the future you’ll learn to refrain from making judgements about someone’s character when you have little to no information regarding them.

I don’t think calling someone out on making a mistake and not owning it is judging a persons character personally but if you do then fair enough.

Of course it is? You’re just assuming I have no accountability, I stated that I forgot to add my reg plate. Accountability isn’t always shown in accepting forced repercussions of your actions you know, and despite this being able to accept forced repercussions so easily is a novelty not everyone has. How come you want to stick up so much for a large company?

EDITED - Formatting. 1. I’m assuming you have no accountability? You’ve shown no accountability. You made a mistake. Instead of owning it you’ve complained, appealed, got rejected and are now posting about it online to try and find another way out. 2. A “forced repercussion” is a strange phrase to explain breaking a rule. If I hit someone with my car and get arrested would you also describe that as a “forced repercussion”? 3. I’m not sticking up for a large company. I don’t care if X Parking Company makes money or not I simply told you that you broke the rules, because you did. I don’t like people who break rules then try their hardest to worm their way out of it. A lot of people in society these days lack accountability for their actions. “There’s not a single reminder and the machine is tucked away!” Excuses from the get go. Anyway, we can debate this all day but neither of us are going to change our tune so let’s save ourselves some time and move on shall we.

Coming from a fellow student earning minimum wage, who was in a similar position a month or so ago, having 100 quid to put towards a fine is not viable on top of insurance and monthly expenses! It was an honest mistake and this person has owned up to that, so accountability has been taken. To park in the car park you have to be using the gym and this person has said they were, so why wouldn’t you appeal? If strong evidence has been sent in and they’ve still rejected the appeal it is blatant the company is just out for money. I understand your POV of wanting people to own mistakes it can be frustrating but I think this person has owned it. By making this post they were actively seeking advice on next steps but was just hit with unnecessary criticism from your comment. It doesn’t hurt to be nice!

I'm going to guess the car park is ran by a third party

It is a third party yeah, I have already appealed and got rejected. Obviously it’s likely I’m going to have to pay the fine, this post was just a last attempt I suppose haha.

Then you should be ignoring the puregym aspect and instead focusing on if the instructions are clear in the car park.

Contact pure gym on email or pop in and speak to the gym manager.

Whatever you do, do not pay the fine! Contact puregym and they will be able to cancel the fine
