imm totally going
its gonna be a great party and great vide in the city
would be greeat if thatwwas before you begin using fuckin euros and prices sky rocket
but im going for firtst time in eurovision
for the party not the garbish music of course
Tasty_Needleworker86@reddit
I'm not going but I want to see Aziz singing Sen Trope as an interval act
Efficient-Magician63@reddit
Would love to but won't happen
Chalga music is well received internationally and in fact there was a Japanese DJ playing chalga music in clubs in Japan and promoting it there
But in Bulgaria it's considered "stupid" music and music we should be ashamed of
Would be awesome if Azis sings sth else that is less chalga, but I am not sure if the organisers would even think of this
Azis would be an awesome epitome of everything Eurovision lol He is Roma, he is gay/used to be trans(?), yet he has/had a wife and has a kid, and has a strong international image
So he is everything and nothing lol ; I am actually not sure at this point what he is lol And he does have quite unique voice
So Azis would be awesome but I doubt the organisers would seriously consider him
It's more likely the focus would be more on traditional folk music and dancing...
They could show nestinarstvo which would be quite impressive
And make Sofia 2027 like a bug Balkan wedding lol
BleachyXd@reddit
He also got legally married to an American guy a couple of months back!
Efficient-Magician63@reddit
I do hope Dara would take part in the organisation community/ideas
She is really creative and thinks outside of the box

People wanting accommodation for a couple of days / week better prepare for US World Cup style prices. Hotels, Airbnbs, Guest rooms etc have already opened the champagne for the dynamic pricing.
rintzscar@reddit
Prices do not skyrocket because of switching to the euro. In fact, inflation was falling significantly in January and February after our Eurozone accession, before Trumpty Dumpty attacked Iran and fucked the world economy again.
See below. Trump attacked on 28.02.

Lipa2014@reddit
Prices skyrocket in each country that adopts the euro.
Meanwhile, the euromaniacs: it is not because of the euro
rintzscar@reddit
That's complete nonsense. People like you not only do not understand simple Economics, but also failed Mathematics.
Lipa2014@reddit
That’s not true, but the fact that you need to resort to ad hominem attacks is pretty telling for your zealousness.
rintzscar@reddit
That's absolutely true and the data is clear about it.
I don't need to use ad hominems. I want to use ad hominems. You people deserve nothing more for your constant lies and traitorous behaviour.
Lipa2014@reddit
“You people”, “lies”, “traitorous behaviour”…???
You got all of this from my two sentences pointing out a fact?
I will let you talk to all of these “you people lying traitors” that you are having conversations with in your head and slowly leave the scene here…
rintzscar@reddit
I got that from your lie.
But, fuck it, I'll bite. Give me official data proving your point that accession into the Eurozone has significantly raised prices in ANY country. It's a fact, right? You have the data to back it up, right?
Because I can give you the data proving that's a lie. Hell, here it is immediately, you can browse through it:
https://www.inflationtool.com/rates
You open any country here; there's historical inflation rate data about it, including after their EZ accessions. Literally all of it proves you wrong.
You are traitorous because you are publicly lying with the express purpose to sow division in our country. I'm sick and tired of far right lies - inflation, climate change, vaccines, healthcare, the EU, Ukraine, LGBT, it's like you are allergic to data and science.
DragonBoyBG@reddit
The funny thing is that I am Bulgarian but probably won't go because it would be too expensive for ticket. Even if is in my country.
NNredE@reddit
It's 2h drive from Niš, it's even cheaper for me to come than Belgrade hosting it.
narisha_dogho@reddit
I want to visit Bulgaria, so my first thought when I saw the results was exactly this!
nocturnal_spirit@reddit
You should visit regardless, there's many places for any sort of interest you may have! Prices of hotels and such in Sofia during Eurovision next year will certainly be artificially increased, so visit at any other time, and please consider other places as well, not just the capital. We have so much to offer, and it's definitely worth it!
narisha_dogho@reddit
I would love to! Is it safe for female solo? What do you suggest visiting?
nocturnal_spirit@reddit
It absolutely is safe. Naturally stay out of the shady neighbourhoods, but that is valid for Greece as well.
Definitely visit Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo as well, as the most interesting cities to visit as a tourist here imo. If you have time, both Burgas and Varna have very large gardens along the sea which are lifesavers during the summer heat. Varna is considered the "seaside capital" and is overall a nice place.
On the seaside, Balchik, Nessebar, and Sozopol are more historic, smaller towns. Coming from Greece, our seaside won't impress you much otherwise ahahha.
In the mountains, definitely visit the Seven Rila lakes and the Rila monastery. A hike anywhere in the Rhodope mountains would give you awesome views and a very pleasant experience of nature, without having to go too high up. If you're in Sofia, hike up the Vitosha mountain, it's super easy to get there from the city and worth the view.
If you visit in August, maybe consider the Open Buzludzha Festival in the Balkan mountains next to the Buzludzha monument. This year it'll be 14-16 August and it's a pretty cool, smaller scale festival, created to support the adaptive reuse of the monument itself (google it to see pictures, it's like a UFO landed on the mountaintop). In the same region (Stara Zagora region) there's also the Rose valley and the Rose festival around the city of Kazanlak, and the schedule should be on their municipality's website. Also there is the Valley of the Thracian Kings with multiple burial sites and tombs throughout, most of them open to visit. In Kazanlak itself there is the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak that is a UNESCO site and very interesting to see.
Close to Varna, there is the only naturally occurring desert area in Europe. It's filled with stones in funky mushroom shapes and it's an unusual place to visit.
The Belogradchik Fortress to the north west is imo one of the most impressive places in Europe, as it is a fortress site built into the rocks (google it to see a picture, it's worth it). Sometimes they have open air performances there and it's truly magical.
Melnik is the smallest town in Bulgaria, and there you can see our traditional residential architecture. There's also Koprivshtitsa that is a typical town from our Renaissance period (not the Italian one, ours was during the 18. century) with important historical significance. Similarly, there's multiple small villages in the Balkan mountains, such as Bozhentsi or Arbanasi, that showcase our traditional houses.
There's many more places to see and events to take part in, but this is getting very long and I'll stop here. Don't forget to try the food in every region you visit!
narisha_dogho@reddit
I'm saving your answer, to make an itinary! how many days do you think I'll need to visit all that? Is the commute helpful ? All of this is very well thought! Thank you! What is the best time to visit? For Greece I would never recommend July - August, because it's too hot and only for the beach 😂 the local food is one of the reasons to travel!
nocturnal_spirit@reddit
Well, you'd need at least two weeks if not more to visit it all 😅 The cities you can reach via public transport (trains are not the best, unfortunately I'd recommend taking a bus whenever possible instead). If you have the possibility to rent a car, do that instead. We're a little behind when it comes to quality public transport.... Do not use taxis unless necessary, chances of getting scammed as a foreigner are above zero (as with anywhere in the Balkans tbh, have suffered from it myself sadly). If you fly to Sofia, there's a metro connection directly to Terminal 2 of the airport that takes you to the city centre, use that instead.
July and August are also extremely hot in Bulgaria, especially in the last few years, so September would actually be ideal. The school year starts September 15th, so you'd even have a calmer time as people are back to work and the touristy places are not overflowing. September is still warm enough to enjoy, but without the 40° of peak summer, and it hasn't started raining very often yet. Early June is also quite pleasant, especially as the spring rains are stopping and it's getting warmer without being too hot yet. There might be some "summer showers", as in pouring rain that starts out of nowhere and is gone in 10 mins, but just wait it out somewhere if it happens, it is absolutely refreshing in the summer, just don't try to run through it, it's not worth getting soaked, it'll be hot again after the rain anyway.
Let me know if there's anything else useful I can help with! I hope you enjoy your time when you visit!

I already saw Sofia in my dreams randomly and I always wanted to see one Eurovision live even though I stopped being a HUGE fan years ago. But recently I moved to Greece which is right next by so I think the stars aligned to make me fulfill that goal.
No-Championship-4632@reddit
If it was a nightmare then you've probably saw Lyulin or Obelya 😄
amazingamy19@reddit
There are already so many memes about it.
Like the video of Lepa Brena landing in a helicopter on a Bulgarian station with the caption-Eurovision 2027.
We are actually excited by this lol.
blue_pencil@reddit
Link?
PlamenIB@reddit
Yep. And not only that. It is hilarious
Live-In-Berlin@reddit
Won't miss it for the world (AKA it'll only be a few metro stops away).
Nekrah_@reddit
Hoping that the hosting of EV doesnt bankrupt the country.
Efficient-Magician63@reddit
We have got enough oligarchs
I won't be surprised if they actually do something meaningful with their money for once
During COVID one of those big oligarchs got sick with it and then donated money to hospitals (money he has stolen from government but hey, circular economy, right)
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
Dude you will make money out of it,idk why some ppl fail to understand it
Nekrah_@reddit
Time shall tell. Euro + Eurovision is a dangerous combo. Some 1% people will make a lot of money sure.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
Bulgaria in general will make more money ,
Hotels,Restaurants,Transportation etc.
It is sincerely ridiculous to think you will lose money
ExoticAd7546@reddit
The dude wants a check in his mail personally
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
🤣🤣
Self-Bitter@reddit
It's not an event with an economic footprint that significant, come on
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
They will make money ,Austria is estimated to have generated around 700 million euros in financial and publicity returns.
ZinbaluPrime@reddit
Nah, it's cheap. Just stick everyone on the big stadium like we always do and call it a day.
Cpt_Orange16@reddit
I would like to visit to see eurovision maybe, it's always in expensive places maybe this time I could afford it lol
Efficient-Magician63@reddit
Yass!! This is why I have been waiting for it to come to Bulgaria, to save money lol
roctac@reddit
OP is kopeck trying to push euro inflation agenda and jealous Bulgaria will be hosting EV.
No-Championship-4632@reddit
Considering the most likely venue would be close to home, I am considering temporarily relocating to Thessaloniki until that thing is gone. It is a relatively quiet neighbourhood after all with big parking lot issues already. I bet prices will go insane too. Probably good for people that lend airbnbs, but not for me definitely.
No-Championship-4632@reddit
Ah there you go...idiots...
Yavannia@reddit
A colleague of mine from Thessaloniki actually already booked right after the results. I was surprised by this, she said we won't miss it when it's so close to us.
Adept-One-4632@reddit
Depends. If Israel participates then I won't come
Dim_off@reddit
It's gonna be a huge bangaranga. That's for sure
PlamenIB@reddit
If I find company I will be there as well. We are not going to win again anytime soon lol
