The sky really picked the right day for this view! New Bradwell Windmill, Milton Keynes

For sure a perfect day for this great view, but the editing is a bit too much and removes the natural feel of the scene. The sky was already the strongest element, that cloud formation is a gift, and it didn’t need the extra push. The greens are over-saturated, and there’s a strange seasonal mismatch happening: yellows in the foliage suggest autumn, while the grass reads as high summer. Clarity and texture are heavily applied on the stonework, which flattens the natural light falloff on the curve of the tower. The bush on the right keeps its shadow where it should be, while the windmill loses all of its shadow. The same sun can’t light one subject directionally and the other from everywhere. There’s also a vignette combined with reduced clarity at the edges to fake a shallow depth-of-field or zoom-blur effect. The problem with a wide scene like this and the subject so far from the lens, you simply cannot have that kind of falloff. Overall, a great shot, but the editing simply destroys it…
