Review Alcuin

We applied to Alcuin School for preschool, got invited to Discovery Day, completed the tour, and now we have the 45-minute parent/child interview coming up — and I’m honestly so nervous 😭
Everyone says it’s one of the best schools in the area, but I still don’t fully know what to expect from this stage of the process.
For parents whose kids got in (or even didn’t) — what do they actually look for in the child and the parents? Is it more about academics, behavior, independence, communication, social interaction, family involvement, values, etc.?
What kinds of questions did they ask you? As parents?
How did your child interact during the visit?
Did they observe play, separation, communication?
What do you wish you prepared beforehand?
My child is very sweet but shy at first, and I feel like I’m overthinking every little thing right now. Would genuinely appreciate any honest experiences or tips from parents who’ve gone through the process 🙏
Also if anyone knows any other best schools in academics, just in case if we don't make it to Alcuin this year.

If you are on Facebook there is a group called DFW Private School Fam Network (hey, I didn’t name it) that might be a better place to pose this question.
We are at a different Dallas private school and did not apply to Alcuin, but I assume they’re all similar processes. I think the want to know that you’re normal and wanting to be a part of their “community”, so if you are interested in things like volunteering or being active in whatever their version of the PTA is, I would definitely ask about that. My hot tips for young kid interviews: resist the urge to dress your kid up and put them in something that can spark a conversation: if they love dinosaurs put them in a Dino tshirt. If they play Minecraft put them in a Minecraft t shirt. Etc. I’ve noticed adults will always try to use that kind of thing to engage them. Since I am the “preferred parent” for my youngest, we actually took separate cars and I hung back until my kid was taken back for his interview and then came around to join my spouse for the parent interview. I never got a clear answer from my kids as to what their portion involved but it sounded like centers and some small group work. I don’t think they care if separation is a little hard, most of the schools will reschedule and let you try again if it absolutely isn’t happening that day.
