are you paying for non collision/ comprehensive insurance or just liability aka the bare minimum? story might be fake but guys your insurance company isn't actually your friend. you need a lawyer just to sue your own insurance so they payout the claim you are paying for. when your insurance company calls after an accident or you call they aren't being kind they are calculating how much they have to pay you and will try to give you as little or nothing if possible. whether it's under another partirs fault like during a crash or as part of your under insured or comprehensive insurance plan they want you to say things like you are ok so they have it on record they don't have to pay you. get a lawyer

What’s the recommendation you would have for getting a lawyer?
I know some lawyers require a large lump sum up front for a retainer and that might not be feasible for some people but I also don’t know much else
