Hear me out. Dandelion Straws

Instead of plastic straws every restaurant could have dandelions growing outside and every customer picks their own dandelion and uses it as a straw.
I know this works because the other day I was eating a dandelion from my lawn and I realized that the stem was hollow AND it’s edible. So obviously my first instinct was to stick it in a glass of water and test it out. And it actually worked perfectly as a straw! Also the straw is a plant so it wont get soggy in liquid like stupid paper straws.
The stem does have a slightly bitter lettuce-like taste after the first sip but then it just functions normally.
Anyways let me know what you think of my idea!

What if we put beverages in vessels that had an open top you could drink out of. Like some kind of "cup'

That's a crazy idea, but it just might work

Half the population of the US cried about their rights when we tried to encourage the m to use paper or cellulose straws.
They elected a man who promised to make plastic straws legal everywhere again (and he did).
You want them to literally drink from a flower???

I don’t want (hopefully) dogs peeing on my straw selection

Perhaps instead a length of bamboo with no sectional walls.

Wheat straw works much better.
Naturally stiffer, drier, doesn't rot easily, no weird flavors.

They definitely have a very bitter taste on the ends but yeah maybe a cup to dip them in to rinse the liquid off before the first sip.
They can also be made into very annoying wind instruments by pinching the narrow end, putting your mouth on the stem a few cm down the stem (not touching the pinched part), and blowing. If it's big enough, you can even make some holes in the length of the stem to make different notes sort of like a mini clarinet.

I like your thinking but I’m not sure it would hold up well once left in liquid for a while. They don’t have much structural integrity so the sucking action and liquid might not allow them to last long. The lack of structure means they aren’t going to work for stirring well or drinking thicker things like milkshakes. Plus, most are pretty narrow compared to a traditional straw. I would argue most things don’t need ANY straw.
