Sailing school in South FL

Hi all,
I’m looking to see if anyone has gotten their ASA 101 at a sailing school in south florida. I am currently in fort Myers, and am an adult (27). So far I’ve found the current sailing schools:
• Flagship sailing: ASA 101 out of Tampa, not live aboard, will cost $995 (plus accommodations)
• Miami sailing school: $3000 for ASA 101. This is out.
• Coconut grove sailing school; contacted the instructor about ASA 101, haven’t heard back yet.
• Blue Water SS: really like the program and prices, but 7 days liveaboard seems like a lot. I’d get 3 certifications in one which is great, but I’ve never sailed before, so I don’t know if this is too much of an investment. Also, it’s $3495, but for 3 certs and liveaboard which is a good deal.
If anyone has recommendations, I am interested to hear. When I do research I also get ads for “chain” sailing schools which I didn’t include because they seemed…. Suspicious? Idk. I’m willing to pay a good bit to learn, but $3000k+ to figure out of this is a hobby I’ll like seems steep to me.

If you don't find one near you, I highly recommend the ASA 101-103 weekend course in St Augustine. Amazing experience. I took what I've learned there and sailed from Florida to Fiji. Let me know if you want specifics

I did the 7 day live aboard with Blue Water Sailing School at their St. Thomas location. Absolutely loved it. I have since skippered charter boats in the Caribbean and Med. Honestly, if you are ok spending the money; go for it. The location is stunning, and I learned a lot.

I took the blue water course and really liked the live aboard aspect. It’s costly of course as you mentioned. Did the cat a+ btw

Key Lime sailing in Key Largo is where I did my 101. Super fun, great crew, and in a perfect spot for it.

ASA is expensive and not really necessary unless you want to charter a boat. As other people have said, find a sailing club or get on a racing crew. Is there a yacht club in your area?

Join a sailing club and crew with some folks for a few days and you’ll learn it all!! ASA is too pricey (I’ve got a couple under my belt).
I got a Power Squadron endorsement a few years ago for like 150 bucks, and I feel like it covered all the big stuff; the classes lasted a month.

I took Asa 101 and 103. I’ve learned so much more joining racing at my local yacht club
