Hello, I have a gaming pc that has ryzen 7 3700x and recently my games especially ow2 have been lagging and crashing more often after the latest game update. I haven't been into pc building in a while and don't know what would be a good and maybe cost effective cpu to upgrade to if cpu isn't the problem please let me know of what parts i should upgrade
My pc spec:
ryzen 7 3700x
16gb ram ddr4 3600mhz
rx 7800xt
250 m.2 ssd and 1tb hdd
asus tuf b550m-plus (wifi)

Aliexpress after coupon and paying import fees you can get the 5500x3d for under $190. Best CPU for price currently on am4

Ryzen 5 5600 will suit you fine

ok thanks ill look into that cpu, for the ram check its just task manager? or should i use the amd adrenaline software?

I don’t think that would be a worthwhile cpu upgrade tbh. Only worth updating on that same motherboard if you get a 5700X3D or 5800X3D, which will be $400 so may as well go AM5
Microcenter AM5 combo if you have one nearby

It's $100 bucks for a decent upgrade, most don't want to spend am5 money off rip.

It’s a 20% IPC gain with no guarantee to solve the problems he’s experiencing. I don’t see how investing in a CPU releases 5.5 years ago is a solid move at this point.
I ran a Ryzen 3600x same IPC as his 3700x, and that thing gave me issues until I went to the 5800X3D
X3D CPUs are worth it, but not used AM4 prices

He mentioned cost effective, you really don't need an x3d, especially with current pricing as you said. There isn't really a point for a 5700x, as more cores won't help his issue unless he's streaming. X3d cpus are wonderful, if only they weren't expensive. You're not getting 4x the performance for 4x the price.

Oh, and for your ram if it's single channel (one stick) that could also hurt performance. If it's dual channel, buy a 16GBx2 kit so you get the 32gb of ram without mixing ram, which is bad for stability as well.
I would not buy new ddr4 ram because used is still significantly cheaper, buy from a good seller on eBay with a return policy.

Either works, the CPU is about 130 used and fits in your motherboard. You can go with the 5600x but it's a very small upgrade for the extra 10 bucks.

If you have a microcenter nearby check out these:

You’re in a tough spot because of tech prices. Going for a X3D CPU is worth it for gaming. The 5000 series X3Ds are only available used right now, and they are selling for a lot. AM5 seems like the most viable option if you have the funds for an upgrade.
I went from the 5800X3D to the 9850X3D and it was 100% worth it for the games I play

I see 16GB of ddr4. Do you have a single 16GB stick or two 8gb sticks? If you have a single stick that could be an issue as it’s not running in dual channel
CryptographerOk1199@reddit (OP)
its dual channel but the problem is i cant buy that same ram which is the silicon power gaming 16gb 2x8 rams
Duka65@reddit
Ah ya
CryptographerOk1199@reddit (OP)
meaning i cant upgrade it to 32 gb ram which i was going to do at first
