The paper is open access, so it’s worth reading it. I’m afraid the results are very much weaker than the headline makes them appear. This MPA is around the coast, and the open areas are deeper and more muddy than the closed areas.

The analysis in the paper takes this into account and almost everything is explained by these natural factors. The headlines, and I’m afraid the title of the paper are quite misleading.
