Okay I'm 25 unemployed and having a rough time at the moment, and I'm bored constantly (I live with my mom still) what are some solid skills I can gain by learning that won't cost an arm and a leg?
Oh and I live in a rural area which I'm having a very very very hard time landing a job.

rural area is actually a sneaky advantage for remote marketing work , companies don't care where you are and there's way less competition than people think. i'd look at learning basic google/meta ads or even just copywriting before jumping straight into python. not as sexy but you can land a freelance client in weeks not years.

Python is free, the tutorials are endless, and you can start building useful stuff within a week. Automate something boring in your life first, that way you actually care about finishing it.

I would strongly suggest going back to school and get an MBA. Programming jobs are hard to get right now. Plumbing or Electrician are both good careers to learn.

Coding is a job that can be done remotely.

Go to the public library, and look for a book like this, probably in the children's section. The key words are 'Scratch' and 'Python'.
Marc Scott (Author): A Beginner's Projects in Coding
Site: https://scratch.mit.edu/
Presents an introduction to coding for young computer users that focuses on the programming languages Scratch and Python, with step-by-step, illustrated instructions for a variety of coding projects.
Any book like this should get you going in a day or two. It'll get you over the learning hump. You need to learn how to learn coding.

Have you looked at the big ol' button that says "New? READ ME FIRST!" ?
I'd start there.
I'll even put it right here: https://reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/61oly8/new_read_me_first/
