Hello!
What do you look for in a helmet?
What kind of helmet do you use? Do you recommend it? I’m in the market for a new one.
Thank you :)

For me, must be MiiPs or WaveCell. I have a wavecell bontrager. It has a spot for a camera, too.

i use two full face helmets
lazer phoenix+ for colder weather and heavy rain, the other is an oneal sl1 crest in good weather.
Im looking for full protection, nothing else ;)
I wear also a kenny performance jacket, glowes, knee pads, and the right shoes.
I ride around 250-300 km/month

I just got a Unit 1 Aura. It’s too expensive and maybe a gimmick. But riding home recently, I was told by a colleague that I blinded him in his car as I was crossing the road.
I’ll always take being noticed (I do a lot of night riding so being visible is absolutely essential)

Being a nuisance in traffic is counter-productive.

You want to look at high speed protection instead of bicycle protection. Look into motorcycle gear.

I have a Lazer Tonic, and it's really comfortable. I mainly commute and putt around for errands. Paid $80 at a local bike shop.

We use full-face dirt bike helmets (we already had them for dirt bike riding and they go just as well with ebike riding). Ours are Fox. We do have some regular bike helmets around somewhere, but we rarely use them.

NTA-8776 certified helmets are the ideal. Anything with MIPS is always a good bet as well. Don't skimp on a helmet, and if you take a spill and hit your head with one on, replace it. The Abus Pedalec 2.0 MIPS is a good one for the price at under $90.

These are the Virginia Tech ratings. https://www.helmet.beam.vt.edu/bicycle-helmet-ratings.html I have a Fox Speedframe, purchased to update from a very old non-MIPS helmet. I wanted good coverage, visor and breathability. I nearly purchased the half-face, but I don’t ride in much traffic or high speed on trails, so that seemed excessive. If I rode on busier streets/roads, I would get a half-face. Rode a motorcycle for years, full face all the way. After your shoulder, the head, often the jaw, hits the ground first.

I have a Bell 4Forty MIPS helmet. It does the job, can't complain.
