Hopefully you didn't book a "surprise" holiday to travel in the next 2 weeks, you can just do a normal application and get it in 10 days max

Passport turnaround is about a week to ten days at the moment, even for a first adult passport. Unless you’re planning on travelling next weekend, just apply for it online.

You've answered your own question - the fast-track service is for adult renewals only, you can't use it for a first adult passport.

When I got got a new passport at 16, the gov website says a "first adult passport" means for adults who have never had a passport before, and for moving from a child passport to an adult passport when the child passport expires it's an "adult passport renewal".

Hmm, the rules must've changed then. I remember when I got my first passport as an adult I had to go through all the rigmarole of getting a witness, etc.
