Got this none running ALH TDI on trade with the one I put together as a winter beater. Threw a used injection pump on it I had and got it to fire up but it spit probably 2-3 quarts of oil put the exhaust after maybe a minute of running. Figured it was the turbo and yup, man did this one fail pretty good.

Just run 90 weight oil. It'll make up for the slop.

I had a TDI with a leaking turbo once double it's power while driving flat out but with that much shaft play does it even spool?

It was probably drinking its own oil and acting like bigger injectors haha but i think the shaft on this is in two pieces and based on the marks in the housing and missing fins I doubt it spools at all but it didn't run long enough to find out, saw the puddle, pulled the outlet off and wiggled it said yup she gone and pulled the turbo.

I’m no expert, but that’s supposed to be on your engine. Not on the ground.
