If you tell people about self driving cars 50 years ago most people won't believe it. 50 years or even 100 years is not a long term relative to human history.
Not what you asked, but a thought I had while reading this. If you got rid of the mandate for car insurance. What % of drivers would actually have insurance?

I think it was Milton Friedman who proposed that to set up a rule where to pass X number of regulations you must get X number of deregulations first.
This is a good strategy to apply if deregulation is the ultimate goal.

I vote for just get rid of regulations and let the free market govern itself.
I’m quite disappointed a lot of Americans don’t believe in the free market though.
