This was our second landing of the night. The first was at LGA, where the tower controller seemed genuinely amused that we wanted to come in. He cleared us for Runway 4, and after taxying back, we took off right over Manhattan. As we headed back toward FRG, we decided to see if JFK would let us in too. When we stated our intentions, the controller replied, “You want to what?! Stand by.” Somehow, they cleared us to land while a bunch of commercial jets held short. I actually felt a little bad once we were on the ground!
They may bill whatever address is on file for the tail number. I hope not, but don't be surprised if something shows up eventually. Either way, cool experience!
You are lucky they did not charge you. I learned to fly in the Tristate area and every time I would ask the controls about landing even in the middle of the night for a touch and go they would come back and say you know how much the landing fee is? I am sure they were just being nice so I did not get a surprise, but I never stopped.
This night will be a great one to remember for a very long time.
Renting a 182 from a flight school in Miami and fly the keys, spend the night at Key West (was a 45 minute check out)
Renting a 177 from a flight school in Oahu… I flew to Kauai for a few days with friends then in one day flew across the north shores of all the islands. (Was a 2 hour checkout plus added cost of renting vests and a raft).
Fly to Oshkosh for Airventure, including the Fisk arrival
Fly into 4N1, Greenwood Lake Airport, and take off on 06. There are old mine holes flooded and people cliff dive off them; also Greenwood lake is beautiful to fly over. There is a Constellation on the airport that has been there forever and you go see the cockpit. A decent diner too.
Also N72, Warwick Municipal, another great little airport. Soft field, grass take off on 26 over the pond.
Day ain't over yet. Just wait until Vector Systems gets your tail number located, then they will hassle the flight school until they pay. I left a corporate flight department in May 2023 and am still getting calls from Vector for unpaid landing fees at KTEB.

Don’t feel bad for us holding short. We’re getting paid and seeing those small pistons reminds us where we came from.

Would have been hilarious if you did a go-around

Without exaggeration, this will be one of the highlights of my life, just below my wedding day.

What happens if vector or whoever never gets paid, they still can't come after the plane can they?
Albeit, landing at JFK, yeah that should cost
MeatResident2697@reddit
