sound exactly like a blowback Airsoft GBB.
thearn4@reddit
We had these in the US Army at some training centers, I remember the M16 and M249 versions.
sinisteraxillary@reddit
And it fires infrared lasers in the sub-40 watt range
Somodo@reddit
Just what you see pal
BigBlue22222@reddit
I could be wrong, but since is says virtual, I think its like the WTTS that we used in the Australian Army.
Its a laser system, that uses CO2 to work the action and simulate recoil. So not shooting BBs or anything.
ShermanTeaPotter@reddit
Germany has a similar system with pressurised air. AGSHP, which stands for Ausbildungsgerät Schießsimulator Handwaffen/Panzerabwehrhandwaffen.
OleRockTheGoodAg@reddit
Pretty sure thats exactly what it is. Multiple booths had this set up at the NRA annual meeting about a month ago.
Global_Theme864@reddit
We had a similar setup for the C7 and C9 when I was in the CAF.
EnvironmentalBox6688@reddit
C6 as well.
I forget if the M72 had actual CO2 lines running to it or if it was fully electric on the SAT range.
K9turrent@reddit
I was one of my unit's SAT range operators, one of the few times I could say I was an operator in the army.
codemunk3y@reddit
Same as Aus
Jaded_Laugh_5352@reddit

That's way less recoil, no?
A-Feral-Idiot@reddit
Absolutely less than any real bullet will give you. However it’s common practice to use 22lr rifles to get accustomed to feeling where a trigger breaks, target acquisition, and other things not dependent on controlling recoil. Is this stupid? Yes. Does it solve a problem? Kinda. Does it solve an unsolved problem? Not at all.
ACarKey@reddit
I mean, it solves a couple problems though. Time, to name one. Not having to collect the fucking brass afterwards is huge and you also have to do way less maintenance and cleaning like this. Then there is cost. This kinda gives you the feel for the rifle without having to shoot a couple thousand bucks worth of ammo every time your company hits the range. I‘m of course talking about professional use.
TakowTraveler@reddit
Worth noting the maintenance and cleaning also feeds significantly into cost and function. Reducing the wear on the actual used rifles and barrels and functional parts over the course of 10s of thousands of cycles per weapon comes with notable cost savings.
There can also be notable advantages in some countries where for example guns are more restricted and they have to be very very specific about brass collection. You'll see in places like Japan and Korea they often have a gun running next to someone doing drills with a net to catch brass because they can't allow even a single casing to be missing as they don't want them to be stolen and potentially reloaded or sold to the public etc.
The version in OP probably doesn't fire any projectiles but either using ones like these which shoot lasers like MILES gear or ones that actually shoot a bb projectile are also good for force on force at close range; cheaper and more reliable than simunitions.
Basically any time you're not actually really specifically doing something where the training of marksmanship at notable range is the primary concern, a training aid like this can be useful and significantly cheaper long term.
the_injog@reddit
Us Army Infantry Museum has a “range” with a few of these, M4s obviously, but also a SAW and a 240 if I remember correctly.
Low-Feature-3973@reddit
Probably something like this (although they just have some pistols and AR-15 options).

A-Feral-Idiot@reddit
“Adapted” implies that this was a real weapon that was modified. This is a toy.
Gold_Spacee01@reddit (OP)
It's a real Galil ACE, manufactured in Chile and adapted by the company 9simulation in Chile
BoseSounddock@reddit
And it shoots imaginary bullets
Gold_Spacee01@reddit (OP)
shoots lasers, like MILES
MlackBesa@reddit
