I liked mad TV too. Not sure exactly where I would rank it. ...and you go a few years later and get the whitest kids you know. Some of those were the best and others were so dull.
I think the difference is in living color was tied very much to a specific family which sort of set in a shelf life for it. If it was still around today the poor wayans family would be ancient!
Yeah, you can see the shift in the show after Keenan and Damon left the show. Bu the last season, none of them were there.
Plus they grew too successful to keep the same formula. Being a show that was popular enough to stay on, but not big enough to do SNL numbers allowed the to be habitual line steppers. By the end of season 3 they were getting censored and pressured to do “safe”comedy.
The show would not hit the same if was still on today. Not without having to post trigger warnings or water every thing down.
She started a YouTube series a few months ago that I stumbled onto. Some skits are good and some are okay, but I'm really hoping she finds a good groove for it and some success.
I can't imagine my life without it honestly. I think it's just potshots at the chorus because the song is quite plainly about a homeless woman that sings for money.

This one absolutely kills me… I watch it frequently!

I miss In living Color

This is bad.
Balthierlives@reddit
In Living Color was so good at these
militant-hippie@reddit (OP)
To my mind, they should still be on the air. Was funnier than snl. Snl has some great stuff but in living color got more laughs on average, from me.
Aronacus@reddit
Show was killed by the network. Fox had a fight with the Wayans brothers and that's why it ended.
Balthierlives@reddit
I think they’re different beasts.
It was funnier than MAD TV. That’s for sure.
And there’s space for both of them!

Yeah. SNL brings in new talent whenever things get stale. Can't swap out family members.
RockItGuyDC@reddit
Word. Who did In Living Color have aside from Wayans family members? That Jim Carrey guy? I never paid attention, but I bet his career went nowhere.
BRINGERofMILK@reddit
Same with Jamie Foxx. Probably never did anything after In Living Color.
RockItGuyDC@reddit
Never heard of him. Bet he only did low budget comedies. Not like a person from that show could excel at dramas.
RockItGuyDC@reddit
Both MAD TV and In Living Color were more consistently funny than SNL.
Same goes for Key & Peele and I Think You Should Leave.
We need another not-live sketch comedy show.
Kalorama_Master@reddit
Pound for pound, the greatest ensemble of talent. As teens, we rarely watched SNL, but we had an appointment with In Living Color

The only thing i'm excited about with the new Scary Movie is that they announced she'll be in it in some capacity.

Man she was so funny, i was thinkin about her recently and i really wish she would show up in someone's comedy
mellcrisp@reddit
Did people feel that way about Crystal Waters at the time, that she wasn't that talented? Must've heard that song 500 times.
LeopardDue1112@reddit
Nah, people generally liked that song. In Living Color was just reaching for an easy joke.

she dances like DeeLite (groove is in the heart)

In Living Color and Early 90s SNL... we had no idea how good we had it.

By a strange coincidence, just left the grocery store where a woman was playing the original out loud on a radio and jamming out.

Start about 1 min and 10 secs in. She's not really singing. Also, fuck eurovision, free Palestine. Also also, I agree with you.
